It came out just a couple of weeks after "...And Justice for All" but I already had spend most of the money from my summer job on albums like "South of Heaven", "So Far, So Good, So What", "No Place for Disgrace" and "The New Order", so I only had the money to buy one more album. I chose "State of Euphoria". Never regretted, still one of my all time favourites.

As a French 50 year old , i confirm how important Antisocial from Trust was in my country . It was number one in our charts for months and everyone knew the words off by heart . I already was a huge Thrash/Punk fan and for Anthrax to cover that song was a huge accolade and somewhat flattering to see France being recognised for something other than cheese ,wine or promiscuous ladies (the ol boring stereotypes). The original version is still a million times better though. As for now ? well ........GOJIRA!!

No internet, not many sources for info outside of relatively simple life. This album comes out and songs like Out of Sight and Who Cares Wins start to inform me. All these years later and I’ve been supporting a housing organization for almost 20 of them.

-a bit more on this because it is important. I walk my dog every night at midnight. We do around 4 miles and walk to the parking lot of a nearby mall. Some folks live in the bus shelters around there from time to time. This is central Canada and it gets down to -40 some nights. I make a point to check on them and see if they need anything. They usually say no but ffs it’s -40 out, usually best just to bring something. I stay and talk, help them to feel a bit more part of it all again. Millie is always wagging her tail and they smile. Some actually say “man, no one even talks to me”. Anywho, time is everything and I have some for them, especially these days. Who would’ve thought a video series would lead to a confessional 😁

I'm glad Scott finally said that it is many fans' favorite album, because State Of Euphoria is my favorite Anthrax album, by a MILE. To me, it is THE quintessential Anthrax record, and it defined them as an 80's thrash band. This record towered over most of those by their peers. Only Metallica's And Justice For All came anywhere close to the amount of play time in my Sony Walkman, as this one did. I think it's great because it wasn't overthought, and sterilized to death. Sometimes, pressure situations, however uncomfortable, produces great results. Everything works out the way that it should be, at the end of the day, and the same must be true, for this magical record. In many ways, it is their purest thrash album, has a heavy but polished sound that I absolutely adore, and everyone's playing on it was stellar. TOP NOTCH. Danny never played or sounded better. Charlie's drums were amazing, Frank and Scott were off the chart, and Joey's singing was simply legendary. How could Scott think that Make Me Laugh, Schism, Out Of Sight Out Of Mind, etc., etc., etc., were bad tracks ?????? SOE is Anthrax' technical tour de force. Scott's (Charlie's ?) rhythms alone are genius !!!!!!!!!!! THIS ALBUM IS A M-A-S-T-E-R-P-I-E-C-E. NOT A BUM TRACK ON IT, ANYWHERE. PRY IT OUT OF MY COLD, DEAD HANDS, AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and BTW, the cover art was and is awesome. As a matter of fact, I never got one of the T-shirts with the SOE album cover art on it, but I sure would love one, now. This record was everything to me, as a teenaged kid. I hope the guys see this comment. If so, thanks for this record, guys !!!!!!!!!

The album-tour-album cycle that bands get caught in has to be brutal; creatively, physically, mentally, and socially. The seven album string that Iron Maiden did from their first until Seventh Son *has* to be a record for a band firing on all cylinders for an entire decade. Not a bad album in the first seven Maiden albums. Don't know how they did it.
@saltpeter74293 жыл бұрын
Agree. Right on. I think a lot of people over look Adrian Smith and his over all presence and impact. When he bounced after SEVENTH SON there was a slight drop in quality until BRAVE NEW WORLD. People tend to think it was the return of Bruce, which was awesome, but for me the unsung magic ingredient is Adrian. I said slight drop, NO PRAYER and FEAR are still decent, just not top notch.

My favorite was December 6th 1997 in Tampa Fla. w/Coal Chamber & Pantera (headlined). Phil Anslemo came out during Anthrax's set to do a CELTIC FROST cover.
