Do you like the black vases or the white vases better? What color would you have used for your home???
@janehickenbottom92003 жыл бұрын
I love greens and oranges . In that color range

White spray paint, its love hate relationship. lol Best advice given to me while using white or light color spray paint, flat gray primer. Gives you a nice flat base to start with.

May I ask why “chalk” paint? Have you found it adheres better to glass? Has a non blotchy outcome? Im about to paint a 42” circular glass for an illuminated sand table. Ive always used foam board as a diffuser but I thought this time painting the glass would be a great way. Im still researching tho. Thanks
@ChicAntiquebyHolly2 жыл бұрын
it does adhere well to most surfaces. i like chalk paint for the soft matte finish!

Great video! Question about the cleaning process. What is special about the cleaning product you used? I noticed it leaves a nice shine. Will regular dish soap do the trick or do I need to invest in the cleaning product you mentioned here? Thanks!
@ChicAntiquebyHolly2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Good question. The cleaner I used has TSP in it - otherwise known as trisodium phosphate. TSP is a powerful cleaner and degreaser. I use it to clean furniture or anything else I'm going to be painting, because I want to be sure that there is zero contamination on the surface before I paint. You can use dish soap, but it's not as strong and may not remove everything on the surface.

08:15 It seems to me that the coverage problem with white paint could be ameliorated by using clear or light-coloured vases. They would likely require fewer coats.
@ChicAntiquebyHolly2 жыл бұрын
That would definitely help!
@rosemarybrennan7006 Жыл бұрын
Could th vases be painted with 1 coat of white paint then sprayed

Love it! But I’m distracted by your other hand being exposed to the TSP cleaner. 😅
@janetslicer36373 жыл бұрын
Bravo! You did a good job! I have a few questions. Do you rinse your cloth between washings? Why not rinse quickly under running water or is this a conservation tactic? If not under running water, do you rinse the cloth repeatedly? And should we use a mask and eye protection when using spray paints and sealers? (Commentors: please don't make this political.)
@ChicAntiquebyHolly3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do squeeze out my rag periodically, I always cut that out of the video because it's boring to watch me do it a hundred times. I would recommend using PPE, especially when working indoors.

@ChicAntiquebyHolly Жыл бұрын
nothing was destroyed in this video but i appreciate your concern! repurposing items that don't have a home gives them life & purpose again. they belong in someone's home and deserve to be loved. if a little bit of paint will keep something out of the trash, i think that's all that matters.

I don’t understand why anyone would ruin perfectly good colored glass vases with paint if anything use clear glass vases to bring new life to them. although this is eco-friendly is the cleaner you were using also Equi friendly? It’s going down the drain and if not processed correctly, you could be contaminated the water system nearby
