This was soo super helpful!!! I thought the part on the actual stem was where the new leaf came from! Til I just got a new leaf on my crystallinum and figured it out. But before that, I had no idea!! I love antherium bc I feel like they are so rewarding , with how big the leaves get! So beautiful 😍

Thank you for such an in depth video. I have 28 germinated clarinervium seeds growing right now so this will help me in the future. One thing though... I also cut off my 2 inflorescences when I received my clarinervium because it got lost in the post and had spent 10 days in a dark box. I didn't want the plant to have to work too hard to recover. However, I didn't throw them away and much to my surprise the one with 'green bumps' on continued to grow and become berries. Every single berry ripened and from 18 berries, I got 28 seeds which have all germinated. 🥰 Edit: I meant to add, I put the inflorescences in water and they ripened within a few weeks. 🥰
@adansoniia3 жыл бұрын
Glad that it was helpful! Oooh what did you put inflos in water or something? For me once cut they have usually withered away. And especially clarienerviums that need like a year and more for berries to ripen (': Congrats, super happy that they made it!
@Tismesue3 жыл бұрын
@@adansoniia Aha, I will edit my comment. I meant to add that, yes, I put them in water. 😂 I was just curious and thought that the little green bumps were maybe flower buds but they turned out to be much better than that! I have seen elsewhere that someone said they take forever to ripen on the plant; it seemed to happen much faster in water, possibly because of necessity. It just took a few weeks (I'll check dates later and edit... actually just 2-3 weeks!) from tiny green bumps to perfectly ripe berries and now all of them have a nice fat root with 2 beginning their first leaves. I really hope this helps. 🥰
@Tismesue3 жыл бұрын
@@adansoniia I have dates after a little photo/email investigation... I cut them off on 8th September as small dark green bumps. First noticed them growing and some yellowing on 4th October. I harvested them on 27th October but they had been ripe (orangey red and soft) for at least a week or 2 before I did. In fact a couple of the berries were already turning black. So yeah, it's obviously supercharged if you cut them off and place in water. 😊 I don't know how long they had been there on the plant though, I just know how quickly they developed after cutting them off.

Any tips on what to do if my lux (now pushing the 6th inflo) just isn't producing any pollen? Female phase looks perfect, the whole inflo is always full of the stigmatic fluid... but no pollen afterwards.
@adansoniia2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow I've never heard of this issue - usually it's the problem with seeking female phase. I don't have an exact answer sworry, but you might wanna try the following: extra fertilizing (especially with phosphorus and look into micronutrients), maybe try to suppliment it with more light (inflos love it), give it a fresh repot if its root bound. Sorry I can't be muchh of help!

Amazing video! Can you please explain how does Anthurium Clarinervium self pollinate? I have one and only one inflorescence emerged, I haven’t see any droplets since it opened or pollen but somehow small green bumps are beginning to show. Do you think it is pollinated or that is impossible? 🤔
@adansoniia3 жыл бұрын
To my understanding female and male phase in certain part of the spadix happen at the same time. Sometimes droplets can be hard to see, especially if it's the plant's first inflo. IF it's getting bumpier it could be a sign of it going into male phase or making berries (: Thing to note clarienerviums are super slow in terms of berry development and you have to wait about a year for them to ripen (': Good luck, I hope you get some berries!
@katiokeefe79892 жыл бұрын
How often do you collect the pollen? Do you do it everyday, every couple of days, or wait until the pollen has covered most of the spadex? Thanks!
@adansoniia2 жыл бұрын
Wenever there is visibly enough to collect. If I let it on the spadix for too long, I end up accidentaly bumping into the spadix and loosing it!
@lindseysgreencanvas Жыл бұрын
ah this was my question, but I'm still wondering if we can collect multiple times while it's producing or just once? If you do collect more than once, so you put the pollen in the same foil that holds the previously collected pollen (from the same inflo).
@Wildtinyjungle2 жыл бұрын
This is so helpful!! Quick question: once you fold the pollen into the foil and label it, do you just pop it directly in the freezer? Any certain temp it needs to be at or anything? Anything you need to do when removing it from the freezer to use?
@adansoniia2 жыл бұрын
I have a dedicated zip bag, where I keep all my pollen pouches. It’s not the best and I’ve gotta change the set up to a plastic container with silica bag to which the moisture. For the temperature, the lower the better :)

Could you do a video on clarinervium specifically? I currently have a Clarinervium inflo and the female and male phase are happening at the same time. Should I rub the pollen on the stigmatic fluid? Or should I just leave it alone? Any tips/tricks would be appreciated

I don't have a clarienervium anymore sadly! But I would say to do as you mentioned :( they are very slow with whole making berries process, so you have to be patient.

Hi everybody ! I have a question about inflorescence : if I am not interested into pollinating (because my place is already full of plants, I don't need more ...) is it better to cut the inflorescence ? I have heard that they can drain the energy from the plant and the plant will produce less leaves or weaker ones ?

Can we collect pollen multiple times from the same inflo, or should we just wait to collect it all at once? I hope someone can answer this, my inflo has started developing pollen, it's been about week, and I don't know if I should be collecting pollen now, and more as long as it keeps producing.
@adansoniia7 ай бұрын
You can collect it both ways. Some flowers produce a lot of pollen and a lot can be lost when you accidentally kick it etc. But sometimes if you are too lazy or a plant doesn't produce much it can be done just one time

Did you wait to pollinate until the entire bloom was full of drops and did it take a long time for the first drops to show up? many thanks and best regards
@adansoniia3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I didn't wait for the full inflo to be in drops (ususally you'd wanna aim for 2/3 of spadix covered in stigmatic fluid). Th reason for this is the fact that it was first ever inflo that this plant has produced. FIrst inflos can sometimes completely skip the female phase or it can be very hard to notice (no stigmatic fluid) or the droplets don't go trough the whole spadix. The last option happened to my friends inflo that we tried to pollinate and it failed lol, so I wasn't gonna risk it. About half of the spadix was covered in stigmatic fluid when I applied the pollen. For how long? Ususally about 2 weeks after the inflo is out of the spadix the d5roplets form (:

I don't mean this to be offensive, as I really like your vids and all the information you give out. But for the sake of helping you to be more correct and sound more knowledgeable, plants DON'T get pregnant. That is the characteristic of an animal, not a plant. They are also NOT he's nor she's. You said you like for people to bring things up in the comment section to debate or discuss, so here it is. I'm a biologist, and have lived and worked in 42 countries around the world. And being a biologist, you can imagine it's bothersome for people to incorrectly label organisms, esecially humanizing organisms which are definitely NOT human. It just doesn't sound smart, and thus I thought I'd get your reaction to this information. AGAIN, I appreciate all of your information you send out, and thus am not posting this to be offensive or demeaning. Quite the opposite. When I'm habitually making a mistake, I prefer a correction thus allowing me to amend my thinking and stop making the same mistake in the future. It's smarter, wiser and more helpful. 🤟

I'm aware of this, I was using the termin in a "lightweight" manner, to help people understand/reconnect the topic easier. I thought it was obvious that, yes plants can't get pregnant and this was a joke, but apparently it didn't come off as that. Will keep in mind, thanks.
