Dr. Monica Carlsen of ‪@mobotvideo‬ has been studying the scents of Anthurium for quite some time, so when I asked her to share some of her favorite Aroids, several redolent Anthuriums made the cut. But also there were quite a few Aroids that she also selected for their unique features.
Tell us which ones you liked the best in the comments below!

And people get excited about a slightly different variegation on a Monstera and pay huge amounts for it. Scent is far more fun.

The wavy margins on the A. polyschistum are due to zinc deficiency. Mild Zn deficiency interferes with cell expansion. Zn translocates to the margins which allows it to expand more than the center of the leaves which results in the waviness.

Have you noticed that philodendronS have a specific smell when you chop a leaf. Thaumatophyllums' smell is closed to the philodendrons' smell, but the smell is much stronger.

It is nice to be awakened like this, to new kinds of plants. (That was fun.) It is so hard to find scented plants in stores, as the plants don't divulge this info, while in that business environment. It probably feels to them like we do, in a crowded airport. Personnel don't have to care, are not always plant fans and its just a carrying, being in your own world, watering job for them. One worker here, watered me with a hose, from her side of the plant tables. No worry, I was dressed for a rainy day anyway. I promised to return on a hot summer day, to enjoy this free service. She remained speechless. Plants don't come with an accurate label so we really have to watch the video labels good. The most exotic nomenclature here could be 'plant.' I might ask the truck driver from Holland, if he has a favorite plant. Then we'll hear what he says and see if he shares a similar frustration with the customer. Videos like this, open our eyes to the possibilities. Scents are an added facet to the personality of a plant and a creation which shares its origin with you, in your home. A bee came into my window last year, to visit a scented orchid. For that one, it only has a lovely, flowery scent in the sun, protected by a lace curtain. Some of us wear a perfume of our choice, but as well, not always. We do this mostly, when we feel good. There's only one question. Who cleans all of those windows? 😁

My granny "forced" me to take care of hers. I always thought it smells. That is why I did not like them. These were just normal super market ones - maybe there are varieties that smell "good".
