@@Jordanx2I think the most common way of cheating, at least that I know of, is done through editing memory addresses and injecting code at or during runtime. I'm pretty sure you need kernel level access to do that, which is why anti-cheat are on the same level, and I don't think Linux really allows you to mess around with the OS at that level, because it's a major security risk. Regardless, you kinda need stuff developed specifically for the OS your using, and I doubt cheat makers, like a lot of devs, are gonna look to that 4% Linux market share and think its worth the time.

It's coz you can use Windows cheats on windows, but you can also spoof Windows to look like Linux which makes the anti-cheat believe that it can't run the normal kernel-space anti-cheat and so it defaults to the less effective user-space anti-cheat (I think)
@comfyzennyАй бұрын
@@77wolfblade its not just that they dont want to. They want client-side cheat prevention in order to have more data collection results. All of this is on their website for Destiny, but they will never tell you that. They will however continually reject and hide any discussion about non-Windows computing.

@comfyzennyАй бұрын
@@marekkedzierski8237 According to the video you're commenting on, 99% of PC players are on Windows. 1. If a percentage of linux players can be cheaters, yet 1% of the games players are on linux (no data from EA btw, just a throw-away metric based on very outdated steam charts), then how is it possible that cheaters are plaguing the game from a less than 1% of the game population? 2. If the trouble is Linux users because they can use VM's to inject cheats and avoid getting caught as players on their linux machine, the OS of the VM is irrelevant. Windows comes with VM utilities pre-installed, so cutting Linux users from the playerbase is non-affirmative action. 3. Majority of users are on Windows, others can run Windows programs with shells like WINE. For what purpose would a cheat maker create a program that doesn't have easy compatability with Windows? 9/10 times the distribution of cheats is to earn money for little work. 4. If you were responding to me and not the comment I responded to, I cited the Destiny website as evidence. There is a hyperlink on their homepage detailing the 40+ 3rd party companies they are selling your data to, and the kinds of data they are selling. No worries, other than the non-irrelevant company Capcom, who has already proven twice that they will take away a groups ability to play a game well after the return window is over (even if you aren't in that group, you cannot trust your group won't be next), there isn't a single non predatory game that requires anti cheat at the moment. There are valid older multiplayer games that required anticheat, it's just that the landscape has all turned into manipulative battlepass games (yes, even your free battlepasses have the exact same cancer) or some other predatory artificial addiction mechanics. Until the compeditive scene changes back, they're all irrelevant unless you promote self harm by playing them. Valve NEEDS to put version control in the players hands. It's absurd that this norm of the consumer not being able to play older versions of a game is ABSURD! This should not be in the publisher hands by any stretch of the imagination. If the publishers only want to provide their multiplayer servers to host the latest version, that's 100% reasonable. And that should be the expectation for official ranked play. But they do need to let purchasers host their own private party matches away from their servers. This hosting is a different feature than the more important feature to roll back YOUR game to the version you want to play. And yes, it is YOUR game. I really don't care if there is legal bullying to say you don't own the games you bought, you do! Maybe not in the eyes of certain entities, but there are laws protecting us from obeying unjust laws. And to not own a copy of what you purchased is unjust. The fact that I had to cover version control, with user controled multiplayer, then with ownership rights just speaks to how absurdly messed up the state of things are with big publishers. And so, only VERY rarely do I even have an ounce of desire to play them. I'm not being a martyr, THEY have made me 100% uninterested in dealing with their crap with games. Games are a playground for enjoyment and experiencing art. And if the companies distract me with all these levels of BS, then I'm not playing any more. The hobby becomes a burden. The indie scene doesn't have that burden for me, and habrors a HECK of a lot more interesting ideas, game mechanics, and artistic direction (less photo realistinc quality, but that's also become uninteresting).

I think it is potentially scummy to remove Apex from Steamdeck, but on the other hand... is the Steamdeck really the best way to play ANY competitive shooter? I just don't think 60 fps on a small screen with controller aiming is going to cut it when playing against other steam users who can play at full 1080p or higher with 120+fps. I would think the steamdeck is better for indie games, single player games, or co-op PVE games. I guess I understand if people bought a steam deck because it's cheaper than a PC and that's their only way to play steam games, this is disappointing, but I still think that basically no one except a pro gamer is going to compete well in FPS PVP shooters on a Steamdeck. There may actually be more desktop linux users affected by this than Steamdeck players, which if they aren't cheating, is sad. Windows has an unfair monopoly on PC gaming OS. If you play PVP shooters on a steam deck, I'd like to know 1. Can you compete well or 2. It doesn't matter if you win or lose its just fun to play the game on the go

Getting rid of my deck. Constant crashing on my Resident Evil remake games. Excited to try the Legion Go.

People blocking Linux just means I won't play their games I'm never returning to windows no matter what. We have 90% of the steam library working on Linux we have plenty of other games to move to.
@johnnyv9024Ай бұрын
Agreed. I'm ditching Windows for other reasons, but yeah not stressing about leaving EA behind.

The finals game is good to move from Apex

Good luck with that, I bought plants vs zombies battle for neighborville when it was labeled as playable, then EA implemented kernel level anticheat, render my game unplayable and Valve refused to give a refund. Despite having played for only 14 minutes. Valve is just another flavor of EA.

EA has never cared about their customers.

Ive not bought Metaphor Refantazio. A big reason was the performance on the deck. It was surprisingly disappointing. I LOVE the persona games. For the most part they run very well on the deck. I was really looking for Metaphor. I think I'm still gonna wait for a sale...maybe this winter sale. If it doesn't go on sale, I may just buy it anyway. P.S. made this comment directly from my Steam Deck OLED

EA doesn't care. It is all marketing BS! We have seen the same with Titanfall 2!

11:11 why completely delete the game? why can't windows and linux players be separated into different servers?

i wonder if theres a receipt with a very big payment somewhere from microsoft :)
@YakoaxxiАй бұрын
Ah yes, Microsoft totally needs to pay all these game devs as if linux doesn't already push them away

Even it's nice about the Handheld PC that uses USB 4 part which is mean I can connect it to my EGPU this is why that the Lenovo Legion go What's the first handheld to feature EGPU support with USB4 port which is I'm obsessed with EGPU on my handheld because I want to get performance boost and that perform boost gives me a great experience because even I can buy myself A EGPU a lot cheaper even you can build around $400 Or between$450 it just depends if it reaches to Black Friday maybe $400 for sure

Even I'm always afraid that if I get black up sex on my Lenovo Legion go I feel like it may have issues that Activision thinks that it's concerned to be cheating to use that device I just don't know

Here's the thing about the Legion Go's price drop: Yes, it's good for the consumer. Whenever prices go down, that will pretty much always be good for the consumer. But the thing is, when the price drops to that degree, I pretty much take it as a sign that the product probably wasn't worth the original asking price. Meaning that the Legion Go was never really worth $700-800USD.

I took it as that, Lenovo wants to get out of PC handhelds. I mean, valve has the ultimate advantage over everybody, they can sell the steam deck at a loss, the steam deck puts you right into steam. Valve gets 30% of any of your purchases, Valve can literally subsidize their handhelds, Lenovo, Asus, etc can't.

hmmm wonder if banning linux OS opens up room for a lawsuit? If you buy a PC product that was previously advertised to run on deck/linux and then its taken away from you, couldnt you just refund everything you've ever spent on the game. Too bad I don't think anyone like that actually exists
@NerdNestАй бұрын
I don’t know that it was advertised to work on Linux

I don't play on portable systems. For the same money I can build a more powerful PC. I'm also trying to become independant from Steam and only buy DRM-free games now.
