I dont get it ubisoft, rockstar, xbox, and tons of other companys make it so you cant play there games inless they have an account or theyre launcher to play it. This is issue is super prevalent on the steam deck. Isnt this the same thing?

The PSN account nonsense, that was my number one reason never to purchase any games from PlayStation on steam, look we've already played this little dance with other game developer people out there, and to be quite Frank most of us are sick and tired of this nonsense, at first for me anyways it started with Ubisoft and I've never forgiven them and I never will, cuz they keep trying to push that crap on me, I don't want to play with their f****** launcher, I don't want to sign up to their b******* making a new account, why can't I just play the game I purchased on steam and not on their stupid ass service? And it's the same exact nonsense with a lot of other launchers, GTA oh I can't play that game unless I sign into my I forgot what the hell it's called, Rockstar club or some s***, oh by the way my account was hacked years ago, and I've never been able to get it back, and I have tried a few times, eventually I just gave up and I decided never to purchase another f****** Rockstar game ever again just because of that, and let's move on to EA games, I'm just out right never going to purchase a game from them ever because I know it's the same nonsense as Ubisoft and Rockstar, I am sick and tired of these f****** b******* platforms pulling this f****** s*** out of their ass and calling it candy. I will never sign up for PSN just as I will never sign up for EA games or Rockstar ever again, and I hope Ubisoft goes completely bankrupt and has to sell to another company, because screw that company wanting me to never own my games, that kind of d****** behavior warrants me has never been a customer ever again.

Sure maybe not related, but the timing was just right. Lost respect for the company many years ago, but still playing/purchasing their service. This statement made me really consider my choices.

If sony is concerned with it's players they should just say, "No crossplay if you don't sign in." I would be more than OK with that. Any other reason to have people sign up for accounts that no one wants after they bought the game is just smoke. Why make it a requirement for all the new single player games? I see you are playing God of War Ragnarok. We (Sony) need to protect you from not receiving advertisements.

I am running Fedora Linux on my desktop gaming PC. When I go to the properties of a Sony game that needs a PSN login, I type "Steam Deck=1 %command%" at the launch parameters and I don't have to log into PSN, the game just starts. Now I don't know if this will work on Windows (prolly not) and I suspect it will not work on multiplayer games, but so far I have no problems with the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster and God of War Ragnarök.

Let's say we accept the argument that they want to keep players safe as fact and that's why we get no cross-play on ps5. And also, the mandatory psn account on pc releases as an extension of that. Even if you do not take the stuff you talked about at the start of the video in to account (ads, and e-mail contact info etc) and accept it at face value(player safety) their argument and wording still stinks because it that's the case what they are actually saying is "We want to be able to ban you and that's why we need you to have an account", just the other way around. They are not just implying that players on other platforms are socially maladjusted unwashed dangerous people, they are also saying that they are holding a sword over your head because you, a user on their platform, might just be one too. Even if the bs they are spewing to save face was the real reason, it's still severe backlash worthy. Also, their point of "online safety" completely falls apart because psn login is required for single player pc releases too.

I have a Playstation account, but I refuse to buy any game that requires a third-party account. No EA, no Ubisoft, no Playstation. Same for any game containing Denuvo or any game requiring an internet connection during single player. Vote with your wallet. Show them it's not acceptable, and they _will_ cave eventually. They need your money. You don't need their games.

I DO NOT recommend buying games that require a PSN login. Obviously multiplayer games with crossplay are a different story and logins make sense there. It doesn't make sense anywhere else and is not only obnoxious, it also kills a ton of sales from the countries that don't have PSN access. Sony thinks it will push people to buying into the PlayStation ecosystem but that won't work on PC gamers.

The last sony pc port I purchased was Ghost of Tsushima. It's probably the last one I will buy unless they reverse the mandatory account linking with steam. I'm also not going to upgrade Horizon Zero dawn since that would require the account link. Such bs.

Maybe its because I just finished listening to the righteous mind, but this sounds like They already decided they want people to sign up for their Network so they're having to post hoc their argument to defend this action. Meaning none of their argument stands up the criticism because they didn't think critical about their decision. Saying they're doing this to drive more people to their platform/echo system is getting ignored by people and and won't win them any support. They should have just kept their games to their platform and none of this would be an problem.

If Sony makes a PS6 I suspect they won't make another gaming device after that. Who would want it? I'm a hardcore Sony fan and I have loved their products. But since 2009 they have gone downhill. I have had a whole host of their devices, from phones to TVs, CD players to surround sound systems. To say that I am fed up is the understatement of the decade.

Be a man buy a Playstation instead of begging to play they games elsewhere. Sony CEO already stated the ONLY reason they put games on PC is to entice PC players to buy a console instead of waiting years to pay full price for old Playstation games. Helldivers aside Playstation game sells on PC while great, or nothing compared to the number they do on Playstation. The whole point is to make you feel like a second class customer on PC. They are not incompetent they are doing these thing on purpose and PC gamers STILL BUY PLAYSTATION GAMES BY THE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS. Crying crocodile tears along the way but STILL paying up.

Luckily PS games do not interest me and hopefully it will remain that way as I dont plan to support Sony in any way in foreseeable future. Only thing I have from them I bought was first Horizon and after they forced PS login into the remaster I dont know if I will even ever play that again as playing the original version seems not worth if there is better one and there is no way in hell I will create that account just to play the remaster so its hanging on if somebody will mod it out eventually. Its weird age you need crack for bought game to play it :/

Star Trek online is a free to play game, they usually give stuff to players all the time, but on Playstation, Sony locks it behind PS plus subscription, even though you don't need PS plus to play the game itself, (thanks to the game company not Sony of course) but still, locking free stuff given by the game company is the most scummy thing ever. Sony is just a scammers company and I now refuse to buy any Sony products, not just Playstations

There are reasonsn I don't have a Playstation (my son does). So for now, I'm PC all the way and only PC. I have some legacy Nintendo things, but nothing new. I won't be doing Nintendo either because of how they treat customers, I don't care how great their games are. It's my money, I'd spend it where I'm not treated like the product.

Original i though it was cool Sony bringing games to PC, now I put most their games on ignore because I only used my PSN for my PsP and my PS3. Even back with the PS3 I felt the game was kinda bad because I had like a third number of games I had gotten for PS2. Now that my phone can emulate, "my" ps2 collection honestly Sony and their psn can take a flying leap.

PS4 pro was last sonny console I owned and so far they have done zero to make me interested in a PS5 if anything Sony and its anti consumer ways is why I dont want a PS5, after I found out that destiny 2 restricts your paid content to what ever platform you by them on (thanks to Sony not the developers) I knew not to bother with Sony hardware as dont want to risk buying content I can only use on a closed eco system, even Microsoft with Xbox is more open now than ever yet Sony are trying to force people to do things its way, its like Japan console makers dont like open eco systems as Nintendo is very hostile to putting its main titles on other platforms.
