@Grave187RIP13 you are totally right, saying anarchy is chaos is a common misconception because its believed that people are unable to live without a government, and without anything stopping people they would just kill each other and do whatever they wanted, THAT is where the chaos theory comes in

I'm talking about anarchy in general, not any specific economic theory. Faw qof was suggesting that anarchy is pure democracy, but that's not anarchy because pure democracy is a system where everyone attempts to rule everyone else. If anything pure democracy is the farthest you can possibly get from anarchy. The only rulers in anarchy are self rulers.

The problem is that like it or not anarchism also removes protections that society builds in. The poor are unlikely to be able to afford the protection of a private police force, and even if we can get rid of temporal power unless we also do away with currency and markets then economic power still exists. The disabled and weak will lack built in protections and instead are more likely to depend on the aid of those who are undamaged.

@incongruousa No Lord of the Flies, was about what happens if you take away government and just have basic instincts. It was Golding's view point on humanity. Jack and Ralph become two separate leaders of their own government. one was dictatorship the other democracy. However your point on 1984 is correct.

Governments derive their power from the consent of the governed. A nation of anarchists isn't going to tolerate a new government. Additionally market competition would make it nearly impossible for a monopoly on violence to form. If any one defense agency tried to subjugate the rest it'd go bankrupt since offensive warfare is orders of magnitude more expensive than defensive warfare, and consumers will also likely abandon the rouge agency for more peaceful alternatives.

@BraedenHickey The truth is without government you don't have freedom. Without freedom you have dictatorship. Without dictatorship you have rebellion and anarchy. As you can all see we need a government to control our lives because otherwise our society would indeed collapse worse then ever before. Take a good look at 1984 and Lord Of The Flies for two separate, but honest and important ideologies to better understand human motivation and society.

Why is it insulting if gay people aren't bad? Sorry, using 'faggot' in a comparitive manner to insult someone means that being a 'faggot' is bad. If it's not insulting to be called it why is it a "good insult" ? if it IS insulting to be called it, why? The use of the word faggot as an insult systemically devalues gay people. It doesn't matter whether you actually think of the meaning of it or not (which, really.... if you often talk without thinking, you have another problem entirely.)

@Tenebrae17 you are wrong... an anarchist has more in common with a libertarian than a socialist. the simple reason is that taxation is a form of government control... they are saying you will give us X% of the time you spent working to do as we wish. a true anarchist believes that the government is the problem NOT the solution to people's problems... they want less of it, not a large socialist state that divides production as it sees fit.

Anarchy can allways only be an utopia. The human race is unable of living without being controlled but we all experience that all political systems start to degenerate, we simply don't know, when. We had to be better persons if anarchy should work. The reason why the asituation in somalia is so devastating is because we all are simply vicious, naturally bad, greedy and selfish. Sorry, misanthropist to the fullest.

ok but is democracy freedom? when 51% of the people can vote and make 49% of the people do stuff or have to live under the same rules then what? idk about you but I have almost never agreed with the majority of people and I don't want them to run my life at all. I see anarchy a self government. were I rule my self and everyone else rules them self. do what you want as long as you hurt no one but yourself. libertarian in a way. the price of freedom is reasonability and idk if we can handle it!

You do realize that those who have the money now control governments right? Corporations literally write their own laws, and pay politicians to pass them. It's called corporatism. Anarcho Capitalism on the other hand has no state to corrupt so companies would actually have to compete fairly to make a profit. Competition acts as a system of checks, and balances. Regarding the drowning thing. Someone could get away with that now. It's a straw man though. Capitalism doesn't preclude charity.
@AnonVoluntaryist
@AnonVoluntaryist 11 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. In small voluntarily formed groups democracy can be a great decision making tool, but when applied to a nation of millions democracy (whether republican, or pure) simply a large group of people forcing its will on smaller groups of people. Anarchy is No Rulers period. It doesn't matter if it's one person, or 100 million people enforcing their will on others; that isn't anarchy.

i can't remember if I've already responded to this, but following a trend is something someone generally does because that person thinks it will make them popular, i happen to fit the description of a modern day punk (mohawk, doc's, tartan and chains and other shit), i do not actively seek to look like this to be recognised as a punk, i dress they way i fucking want to, which, as i already said, HAPPENS to fit the description of a modern punk. i dress the way i want.

So this song is telling me that we have to live completely out of the system to believe in anarchy if not im a poser?? I think using a tie and playing on festivals like warped tour is more like being a poser... Punk and anarchy its not the same!! And punk its not a fashion like to be called poser to someone who believes in anarchy but doesn't buy his own shoes.. Calling poser to someone is prejudice, and prejudice leads to racism...
@Arcadia95
@Arcadia95 12 жыл бұрын
No, that's the point, I explained this, I dress the way I feel most comfortable, if I felt comfortable in just a jeans and t shirt an converse or just plain trainers, the point I was trying to make is, some people see punk as a fashion, but it doesn't matter two fucks how you dress, I wear docs cause I have a vintage "for life" pair, I believe if you can get clothes or shoes that last a lifetime, its better having them than following fashion
@Arcadia95
@Arcadia95 12 жыл бұрын
The music and bands were labelled punk, no original punk actually called themselves it, that's the name the media gave us, because back then, it was only an insult. The reason I 'look' punk is because I feel comfortable dressing my own way (cotton jacket with tartan and chains, rolled up jeans, DM's, mohawk) the way I dress doesn't make me punk, the things I do, what I like, my beliefs and opinions, that's what makes me a punk. True punks rebel against the system, not follow a trend.

@PaulMFliebler Remember what? How it wasn't so friggin' scary to simply leave your house without fear of being beaten to the ground the moment you stepped out. Or to come home and find that someone else has taken up residence in your absence. Or maybe your house is on fire because someone else was jealous you had more than them in this supposed "equal" world. In anarchy you're truly free all right. You have the freedom to fear everyone and everything around you.

@Xetrez Lol you're horrible grammar makes me only laugh at your initial insult. No, Communism doesn't work because of greed, people see that they can go without working and still survive, than government has to step in and force people to do everything, then the people revolt because government is telling them what to do and government fights back because they view the people revolting a an attack on the state not an attack on Communism. But with Anarchy there is no slacking off, you have to

@andyottito Socialism simply describes any system which wants public instead of private ownership of the means of production. It's true that some socialists want this to be implemented through a powerful, supposedly democratic, state, but there are a large number of socialists who instead want the means of production to be owned by the people that use them. Factories should be owned and managed by their workers. So socialism does not require any government intervention at all.

@andyottito Ok, I am very, very sorry for dropping the 'e' from you're. The apostrophe, the letter 'e', and the difference between 'your' and 'you're' are aspects of the English language that I thoroughly respect. I apologize for the offense I may have caused with my misspelling. So I have enrolled in elementary grammar classes. Now can you, as an economist, explain to me how capitalism benefits the poor? Thanks for taking time out of your busy day of economizing to have this discussion.

@andyottito That was Publishers Weekly review, not just some random person. At a library you can find academic journals that are peer reviewed for accuracy. At barnes and nobel you cannot. At a library you have access to databases with a wealth of information- also peer reviewed, and articles from academic journals. Didn't you have to do any research to become an economist? I don't what to have an intelligent conversation with you about a book. I want you to answer my original questions.

@andyottito The ppor all over the world are growing at this very moment. A overwhelming majority of people in Latin America are impoverished. Global capitalism has made the elite of the third world richer, while the poor are getting poorer. Please do some research before furthering your political agenda. We are on an online environment, and you are representing a viewpoint for the world to see. There are arguments for capitalism, but not yours.
@JakeUpMa

@andyottito so do yourself a favor and choose not to be in the 'middle' of the left and right. Choose to be outside of their spectrum. The 'liberals' and the 'conservatives' are actively working everyday to take freedom from the world, and further shackle workers. Healthcare and welfare are not 'bigger government' but rather treating symptoms of inequality created by our system. dems and repubs both fund business that generates poverty and destroys health. this creates a need for social spending

No. The Nazi regime was completely fascist. And yes, fascist is solely far right. And as for not believing anything you read on the internet, I learned all that from books written from people who know what they're talking about. Text books, history books etc. And a class system would mean once you're in that set class, you can't change. However, the rich can become poor, and vice-versa. As for the differing rules thing, try far right America to blame that on.
@alpharay77
@alpharay77 14 жыл бұрын
The Nazis were a fascist group. Fascism is the far right. The far left would be known as "Communism." Communism is the ideal that society will govern itself. However, it's an imperfect theory when practiced. Soveit Russia and South Korea are both examples. No side beliefs in a class system. Anarchy is the belief that the government and anything associated with it are wrong and should be totally abolished. Next time you wanna say something, don't use wikipedia. :)

Metal isn't always hate, the main idea about metal is to teach the world something, u'd be suprised to see how many songs go about depression and everything, yes there are hate songs but those are also mostly aimed at the government and some just go plain about beer and partying. Rock is the mother of all. And rock was the first thing to shake the world, that was the basics, punk buid an imperium on those basics and metal threw in their own touch also build around those basics.

Incorrect. Anarchy means "No ruler." A democratically elected leader is stil a leader. They still hold power over others through that title. Anarchists are against hierarchy. If you have on eperson over others, regardless of how they got there, that is still a hierarchy. Consensus is much more congruent to anarchy than democracy is.

Which creates problems of its own. My main issue with anarchist philosophy is that it ultimately puts the powerless in a worse position. Those who are disabled, weak, or poor have it bad enough the government at least offers them a small safety net. Anarchism is likely to remove it.

@ThatOneBassist013 Punk isn't an image, punk is who you are. It's not a trend, it's a state of mind. Punk doesn't means you hate the government, it means you are aware of how corrupt it is. Fight the system! Punks rose before the music...

@AlmosFamousAlliance So you're saying that if some kid who listens to Wiz Kalifa and has buzzed blonde hair and an aeropostale shirt doesn't like the government, he's more of a punk than a guy with the punk image who listens to punk rock?

Well, historically speaking today is actually a relatively peaceful period worldwide. My point is that in a state of nature, in anarchism, we are more likely to wreck one another than we are to maintain a strong and functional society.

the truth is punk started because of dope. if you've ever done it you know the feeling and the behavior it elicits. real punks (even b4 the ramones and pistols, and prob even them) became that way bcuz they were simply seraching for their next high.

calling yourself a punk makes you not a punk... you got a case of the try-hards. I can't define punk so I wouldn't call me or anyone else it outside of a music genre. . . . Well I thought I was punk when I was like 14...

Love how everyone is gettin all mad at Anti-Flag for makin a song that has anarchy in it. If you'd read the lyrics, you'd find out that they are actually making fun of people who are all "ANARCHY!! PUNK ROCK!!! WHOOO!!!"

Governments are only as good as the people who run them. No matter what style of gov it all lies in the people. The better people are the less government that is needed. Unfortunatly people have proven not to be very good.

This song is talking about people posing to be anarchists, and a dude below me was talking about posers, and I just said that because.. just because I am an anarchist doesn't mean I have to look like a 'punk'.
