As a migrant myself I 100% agree, I came to germany after the berlin wall fell in 1990, and while i integrated seamlessly (culturally ofc) i observed how other migrants stayed in their own cultural confines. The result has always been the same, their german was worse, the way they perceived critique was mostly viewed from an oppressive standpoint not a constructive or logical point and they overall participation in the german culture was almost non present. even today, if i go to museums, art exhibitions and other cultural events i rarely see any migrants, especially from the middle east (where i am from). So ofc both cultures keep feeling distant and cold to each other. if you go to another place and refuse to embrace that place, why would u even go there to begin with? From a cultural standpoint I 100% support Denmark.

They are criticised. It is more likely Western productions talk more about Western issues foremost. Nevertheless I can speak to it a little. I think there are issues their more collectivist society naturally making it hard to assimilate. These aren’t quite the same problem Western countries have - which are purportedly more so about ‘the individual’. This might be an element of Confucianist values of family which has been historically a major cultural force in East Asia. Also Japan has much much lower levels of English competency compared to European / Western countries. This makes it a much tougher journey to integrate. Furthermore Japan post-WWII in effect still had kept in place by the Americans a very very right wing government. This consolidated the right into power where Japan is basically a one-party country ever since. Other reasons include the fact it is an island like mentioned by the other commentator. Also Japan is a very racist country in as many any. You can go down to a night-club in Tokyo and they will literally say to your face “no black people”. Not to mention issues like LGBTQ acceptance (gay marriage is not recognised there). Capital punishment is still there… There are many issues in Japan (and Korea too to be honest).

As an immigrant to the UK and living there for over 30 years, I've grown to dislike these immigrant microcosms within the country. I think they've done more to damage multiculturalism than promote it. I understand and empathize that it's a comforting thing for new immigrants to find areas where their own people are so its easier to start settling in with language and someone of their own kind to help. However I think as the communities have become entrenched over decades , they've become more like countries within a country . It gives immigrants too many opportunities to not learn the native language or integrate with the native people and continue their cultural practices, which in some cases may go against the laws of the country they are living in. In the community I grew up in , there were people who lived and worked there for 20 + years and could barely speak English and didn't associate much at all with British people. Of course there is also racism from the Brits towards these immigrants but isolating yourselves from them isn't going to help build relationships and acceptance either. The proof is in the pudding as they say as the backlash to multiculturalism and immigration is rampant across all western countries now. However I don't know how nations like the UK can effectively "break up" or enforce immigrants to randomly distribute themselves across areas and not keep clustering in the already established immigrant communities. If anything it's too late to do anything about it now that isn't going to look draconian and create a humanitarian crisis. Where it is not too late to do something about it , I think lessons should be learned from places like France and the UK and measures taken to help immigrants settle in a way that will promote integration better.

I'll tell you the facts from the American perspective since we've had immigration all of our history. Parallel grouping is natural. People do it so that they can feel they have a special identity. Everyone wants to feel that. Leftism seeks to take that away so that everyone is "equal" but it ends up merely favoring one group over another as it seeks to compensate. You cannot control the lives of people by herding them around. As for integration; you will merely make it more convenient for sexual predators and child groomers. So one culture will dominate eventually. In the U.S., they compete. It hasn't led to a better society, but a more fragmented one where everyone is a potential victim. It's the easier scam in the world to come to a strange country and then claim you're being treated differently and therefore the host needs to change for you. It's an old trick.

Effectively government implemented Gentrification. So the unemployed are still unemployed they just are no longer all living in that area, they are spread out in different areas. It’s going to be necessary to not to give citizenship to people, but provisional permanent residence. This way you can return people who do not serve the country at large.

Hahahahaha nope! No backsies, you decided to mess with their homeland so you must deal with it. You like your hot water? The fuel in your car? The electricity in your house? Well then you must deal with this. You cannot have those things without oil, and you can't get oil without destryoing these people's lives. So no backsies buddy.

@@nefaristo Exactly, a lot of people here are absolutely clueless just like you. Learn your politics baby boy and figure out how the world works. Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq etc, all those countries you see and hear about in the news. You think Denmark is an angel country in world politics and just going along minding it's own business? LOL! You've got a lot to learn. Denmark is part of the EU, it is part of NATO, it is complicit in everything. Resources aren't handed in this world, they are taken.

If your name is not danish, change it to a danish one and you’ll probably get more jobs for showing respect of the culture you now live in and for showing to put effort to integrate. Also getting rid of the veil will be another step of integrating. There are people dying to cross the Mediterranean in a small boat just to get to Europe and you guys are fussed because of the address and Danes make their rules in their country?? You are already there, you have received citizenship, you are lucky and privileged! If you dress like them, eat like them, talk like them, there is a high chance they will accept you, it’s easy as that. YOU have to adapt to their culture, not the other way around!

Another fascist commenting - no wonder the person suggests that people who've come in change their name to show respect for the society they've entered! There's no correlation anywhere here! Plus: names create identity. And by changing one's name, discrimination from the majority population does not disappear de facto!

Sure, look at Sweden, already with neighbourhoods on the sharia law. Let's be realistic. Realism is not discrimination, moreover, it favours integration if your true purpouse as an inmigrant is to truly look for a better life within the country that receives you. I dont think your country of origin will at all give you the openness and oportunities that Denmark gives you. Take the chance, be grateful and integrate; there is freedom, democracy, openmindness and safety in Denmark.

There are no neighborhoods in Sweden or anywhere in western or Northern Europe that are "on the sharia law". Someone made that up (maybe you) and now you're passing along this fabricated information to others.

Keep life simple, you accept your new countries rules and try to adapt to your new home. Or you pack up and go back to where you came from. Laws, rules and culture is not up to debate! Sync in or get lost, this society was made for the people allready living there. Culture, way of living and values of life. We have freedom of speech and expression here. Not racist here, i grew up in a foreign country as a minority.

native french people are already leaving the country en masse. They also move inside France, they run away from the big cities. So Macron decided to put migrants everywhere and passed a law forbiding "separatism", now he plans on sending migrants in every single last small village. things are not well in France.Juges don't convict them if they attack "white people", hate crimes are on the rise, it's becoming unlivable for the natives. Many are planing to move , we just don't know what to do. Voting wont solve it anyway , Italy proved that.

I am a Texan born in Houston. We did not have homeless people. The police would escort people who were vagrant to the edge of city limits and let them go. No panhandling. Decreased crime. People were expected to work for a living. People who were unable were assisted by churches and other charities.

People need to contribute, so simple, you cannot just live in substituted housing and receive benefits/child allowances because you have many kids and no job. A lot of Native people in Europe are actually struggling and working to provide for themselves and their children, and often they don't have as many kids because of the financial burdens, but newcomers with big families demand too much, i mean the amount of benefits some of them are getting is just absolutely ridiculous. I don't work and pay taxes so people from the Middle East can benefit form their separate communities here while their children eventually wander the streets and form gangs.
