Since you don’t believe we should be zombies that listen to everything every youtuber says I want a chance to think alongside you. If you’ll listen that is. Now the first reason you stated and the one you used quite a lot was that “you need to be physically strong enough to wield the swords” 6:18 . I completely disagree with this statement. As shown by liebe in the devil binding ritual, someone with innate anti-magic can control and move the swords without even touching them. This actually removes the requirement that you need to be as strong as Asta to lift the swords, as if you can control them to the point of actually making them float/fly mid air then you make them as light as you want in order to swing them if you wanted to do it manually. So no you don’t actually have to run through tornados and train for 10 years to lift these swords and if you use the swords like these they also wont slow you down by the way. Now do I think Asta can swing the swords harder than a person doing that well yes he literally used one hand to send a sword being used against him flying in that same ritual, but to be fair he had, time to train while liebe was in a book, so there are some arguments to be made. Next you mentioned how you would have to face discrimination 7:15 , this is only partially true. Its true if your living in the clover kingdom not much else, the reasoning is as you said yourself the clover kingdom is a society were magic means everything. It’s the same as how being a devil host will get you executed in the clover kingdom, but being a devil host in spade benefitted you for a period of time. If Asta simply went to live in the other kingdoms after getting anti-magic he would not have to deal with the discrimination. After this you said “ Once Asta gets more swords and his black form, then he’s overpowered” 10:58 . I agree with this statement in the sense that asta gets stronger with each sword, but this brings me to one of my major problems with your argument. Your trying to prove that ANTI-MAGIC is NOT OVERPOWERED because ASTA is NOT OVERPOWERED. This is fundamentally wrong. For example, using this logic I could make the argument that light magic is weak because king clover a user of light magic who has had his magic for years couldn’t even save himself from falling and needed Sekke to save him. Now while everyone would love to be saved by Dark lord Sekke, I’m pretty sure the king didn’t intentionally not save himself for this reason. Now the obvious retort to this is that there are more people we've seen to disprove this such as patry and the first wizard king, but lets assume for the sake of the argument that king clover was the only person we've ever seen with light magic. everone would call light magic trash. This is what I mean, just because Asta hadn’t figured out how to use anti-magic properly does not stop it from being overpower, you need to separate the power from the person and analyze it. ANTI-MAGIC IS OVERPOWER, Asta simply didn’t how to use it. In other words ANTI-MAGIC IS OVERPOWERED, ASTA ISNT OVERPOWERED, there IS a difference. Since you also watch jujutsu kaisen let me use an example from it to further illustrate my point. we know that "Fumihiko Takaba" has a curse technique on power with gojo's limitless, being "Comedian" yet as powerful as it is and despite that it is literally told to us that it is on power with limitless because Fumihiko Takaba isn’t the smartest tool in the shed he cant use it nearly to the point where it would even be close to limitless. The point of this statement isn’t to say that comedian is overpowered, its to say that if a person doesn’t know how to use a power its going to make that power look weaker than it actually is. I also don’t blame him for not knowing how antimagic works, he had anti-magic for less than a year. And using that fact how long did it take asta to reach the level of a vice captain using anti-magic. there are few magic types which asta could have used to get this strong. For instance, at the end of the video you say “Let’s say he gets a random ass three leaf clover with fire magic” 21:13 . I tell you with 100% confidence, that if asta had NO PLOTARMOR, and he got that 3 leaf fire grimore instead of his anti-magic grimore on the same day, he would have gotten clapped by langris. I don’t see what spell he could have thrown at langris that langris wouldn’t have immediately sent to the shadow realm. Please elaborate if you disagree. I would also like to address that one requirement to get good with antimagic is that you need to go through a devil binding ritual. while this was definitely true in asta's case your overgeneralizing it. bear with me for a second. the reason I say this is because if you really think about it asta didnt get antimagic in chaper 1, he got an antimagic sword. whats the difference? well the one who actually had antimagic was liebe and not asta. asta had the swords that were imbued with antimagic but not antimagic itself. he only started to really get antimagic during his first devil transformation, the problem here is that even with that he was only using trickles of antimagic. the devil binding ritual was for him to be able to use all of liebe's power (antimagic), but lets assume that it was actually asta who manifested antimagic. he wouldnt need a devil binding ritual be able to actually use antimagic since he'd just have it. and we know that its not impossible for humans to have the same type of magic as a devil without being connected to them for instance beelzbub and langris, so i dont think its unfair to say that if asta manifested his own antimagic in chapter 1 he wouldnt need to go through the binding ritual. but even if you want to argue that it would have been impossible for asta to develope antimagic on his own, remember that your argument is "anti magic is not overpowered" and not "asta is not overpowered" so if we look at antimagic in isolation without asta, well we know liebe acquired antimagic and can uses it freely and he didnt need a binding ritual [he needed the binding ritual to get out of the grimore not use antimagic freely] so that means it is possible to have antimagic and use it freely without a binding ritual. Also I find it interesting, how you think that Asta not being able to one shot the KING OF DEVILS who has likely been alive for more than 800 YEARS, does not make ANTI-MAGIC who by this point had only been training for around 2 years overpowered. Like you do realize that there were captains there, who mind you had been training their magic for multiple years and they all admitted that asta’s ANTI-MAGIC was the only thing that gave them a chance of winning. This means that ANTI-MAGIC is so strong that 2 years of training it is enough to surpass other characters with years of experience. And you can’t even make the point the point that these captains didn’t train, since we found out that fuegoleon was personally trained by a formal magic knight (Sister Theresa) since childhood and we don’t even consider him one of the Strong captains so what about the rest. Even when you state that lucifero was only using a fraction of his power, it doesn’t prove that ANTI-MAGIC is not overpowered, because if someone can use 2 years of training to defeat 50% of an 800 YEAR OLD KING OF DEMONS. That means that ANTI-MAGIC has the potential to reach 50% of an 800 YEAR of experience. Please tell me a SINGLE magic type that can do this. Lucius and Yuno are both probably strong enough to pull of this feat, but not only do they both have 2 magic types but they’ve also had their magic for their entire live while I would say yet again that asta only had anti magic for 2-3 years Assuming you dont blatantly disagree with what ive said up to this point, that would mean that ive proving that antimagic and be used without needing insane physical strength and without the need for a devil binding ritual. meaning the only thing stopping antimagic from crossing the boundaries of highcost to overpowered per your definintion of overpowered is the fact that asta feels pain when he uses antimagic. now ill be honest with you. I'm a bit on the fence with this one. i haven't seen asta complain about pain from antimagic since binding with liebe, i also have never seen liebe complain about antimagic hurting him, and since we know that in union asta and liebe feel the same pain i think it would be fair to say that if liebe experiences no pain from antimagic then neither would asta. we also know that while in the grimore liebe was creating and covering himself in antimagic, and i doubt he would have done that if it was actively hurting him. which lead me to the conclusion that liebe a user of antimagic doesnt feel pain when using antimagic. should this be true, that would mean pain is not an inherite property of antimagic. Paired with everything else ive said that would make antimagic Overpower by your definition, because that would make antimagic No cost high reward in general. now of course since its never been stated i would understand why you would just reject this. but still i would like to say one last time that antimagic being overpowered does not translate to asta being overpowered. Side note: I hate the argument that without asta’s physical strength, someone with antimagic would only be able to nullify magic and not be able to actually knock people out. We’ve seen that anti-magic slashes actually do physical damage when asta rescued the spade nation people. And even if you want to argue that he couldn’t use slashes without the second sword, remember that the first sword that came with the grimore is heavy enough to the point were if you fling it at someone like liebe does it likely just kill them.

I've never seen his anti-magic as overpowered I've always seen it as a leveler. Here are all these Wizards with God complexes because they were born with magic that let them warp time or space or some other ridiculous ability by flexing a finger or something like that and here is Asta able to force them all on an even playing field where they proceeded to throw Tantrums because for the first time they have to struggle.

To me Anti magic is just another magic attribute in the power system which gives it both pros and cons due to its nature. It’s not overpowered but it’s also not as underpowered as some people would also say. I would personally put it in the top 10 magic attributes series, but it’s far from flawless. Pros: (1) The obvious nullification, reflection or absorption of all magic, basically giving you a type advantage over all other attributes, (2)can be permanently infused into weapons to grant permanent unique effects, (3) Is naturally arcane allowing users to interfere with reality and concepts such as space, time, dimensions and devil biology. (4) synergies extremely well with ki, (5) users are immune to mana sense and mana targeting spells. Cons: (1) A certain threshold of anti magic is needed to affect large quantities of mana, (2) early usage is limited to imbued weapons which rely on the physical strength of the wielder, (3) Anti magic lacks any form of recovery magic and has no access to mana zone or natural mana.

Anti-magic is an underrated concept that doesn't get the credit it deserves imo. It's not overpowered but very practical and essential to the story of Black Clover. All the while in the Black Clover verse, it's a power no ordinary human or devil can wield because of its effects.

Not just train in anti magic, but even sword combat, analysis, muscles and the will to never give up. Even with his sword skills, characters who were more skilled than him could even still whoop him. Like Conrad who was basically using one sword and one hand but still managed to beat him up and to go as long as stabbing him.

Honestly, even after all he’s been through I still don’t think Asta has even accessed all the benefits of anti magic. People also seem to go in the opposite direction and claim anti magic is completely dog sh*t without asta, discounting and of its unique abilities. Namely it’s weapon enchantment, imagine if asta found a good blacksmith (maybe some dwarves if they exist) gets a whole arsenal of different weapons, and enchants them with anti magic. He’d become a whole Toji with an armory of weapons with unique power he can call upon at any time. Anti magic Bow and arrow, axes, shields, throwing knives, chains and even cannons (since them exist and asta is definitely strong enough to carry one).

Would anti magic even be able to "enchant" other weapon types and even if it could would they be assimilated into the grimoire since they aren't swords, i mean the grimoires original magic is sword magic not weapon magic so i would assume only swords can be equipped from the grimoire. tbh i can see him being able to enchant other weapons but the only time we have seen anti magic have full control over the weapons is from the ritual with liebe who could control them and use them without even holding them.

The amount of people that always looks at Asta's anti magic like it's the same as Batman using kryptonite. Asta made that power work, and even if you remove the main gimmick of it, it's still energy at the end of the day. Black Clover made it clear many times that it wasn't overpowered. It comes in clutch, but not always overwhelming in every battle.

The combination of anti magic, lichts insane swords, astas will and (Likely) Devil Genetics, Ki, And Arcs on Arcs of sword experience is what makes it seem "OP". But thats fine imo because its not JUST the effect of anti magic, its everything that it took to get there thats winning fights. Thats by definition efficient writing.

Well I think anti magic the idea of the ability is over powered. But ofc as its been shown in the anime that a magic/ability is as strong as the user even if it’s over powered. During elf arc, we seen the difference of power when a elf used magic compared to a human. When the elf’s in control of the original users body had used their magic, they did bigger and stronger attacks we never seen the original owners use before. For example luck has never used the lightning transformation till later in the manga but the elf used it easily with no training. Now a devil in possession of a magic is even stronger. Patri when got possessed with negative mana, his light magic got amped by a lot. Now anti magic, asta is just a human like the witch said he is nothing special just manaless. Anti magic is overpowered but in asta hands it’s just powerful due to his conditions. Now liebe is like really young in devil years? He got casted out by his own kind for having no magic. I have no doubt with growth liebe would become the strongest devil. Technically only thing that can beat anti magic is physical things since it can’t bypass non magic. In the world of black clover where magic is dominant, technically everyone would have to rely on physical attributes to beat it.

Anti magic is busted, but you need a certain type of person to get its full potential out. Asta was able to make the most of it due to having such a toned body, knowing the right people, acquiring multiple magic swords, learning kenjutsu, learning ki, being a prodigy in his own right when it comes to learning new concepts and of course his super natural mentality to never give up. This magic type is still the anti thesis of the series though, Asta is usually called upon to fight the big bads, not because he's the strongest, but because every villain uses magic and Asta is on paper the most suited to oppose them. In this regard it's absolutely broken. Essentially Anti magic at it's best is better than any single magic type at it's best. I dont't think this is a criticism though because, like I mentioned before Asta has to put in a lot of work to get the most out of his abilities. He's usually going up against people with decades of experience over him or people with multiple magic types or powerful long lived creatures like devils and Elves.

Anti magic is like a baseline power system. its not partially good at anything. its just okay at everything. instead of how most other magic's are. they will have something you can focus on in terms of power. anti magic doesn't have that. where something like fire will have +5 attack and strength. or how light has like +10 to speed. anti magic seems to more more like +1 a crossed the board. it is just Asta being Asta is what makes it more or less that strong. oh I need to be faster better carry this heavy sword while I sprint around to build speed. oh I need to get strong better start lifting weights to build strength. its kind of like a game were you are stuck with picking classes. you have to stick to those classes but Asta just said nah. I mean other people don't have to stick to those classes but they just seem to do that because of what magic they have. they play to their strengths which is smart but also limiting. I love how much Asta lives up to his ideals of anyone being able to become great even without magic if they work hard enough. Asta is still strong in his own right and he's proved that he earned his anti magic. Even then he still had to struggle. Asta's real magic is never giving up.

All anti magic does and all it has ever done is even the playing field for asta and once everything is equalized that's when his true strength shows which is the strength that he worked hard to gain. if you think about what would happen if someone else got the 5 leaf grimoire then anti magic suddenly becomes a useless ability because only asta can wield the sword due to his hard work and training. anti magic in and of itself isn't overpowered, its the man that uses it that makes it such a strong ability.

I'm still watching the video but wanted to get something out before I finish, I think Asta should still be considered overpowered in relative terms because Antimagic is still an arcane stage type magic, arcane stage magic just has this tendency of , by changing the rules of standard magic combat, they can often punch significantly above their weight class, probably the best examples would be Vanessa and Grey, both of which severely breach the gap in power in the fights they participate in because of the utility their magic provides. Anti magic is on the lower end of this utility for arcane stage magic, but I think its what allows Asta to punch above his own power level in certain ocassions

Asta not being called an underdog, and you making a video on why this is false is the same as Clyde making that video on why PlagueofGripes is wrong about Naruto not being an underdog. Imagine this you attack Asta but get blocked by an Anti Magic shield than he charged at you with his sword. Bro this is the same thing with Bleach characters like Gremmy and the other sternritters who had “overpowered” abilities but the downfall a lot of them was either arrogance, cockiness, overconfidence in their abilities, and pretentious tendencies. My brother in christ Anti magic itself is the OP part here as it has the advantage in combat over literally every other type of magic we have seen. Theres literally NO fight in the series where asta would have been better off not having anti magic over (non OP) magic ... literally if asta had MP instead of AM he'd have lost the first ever fight in the series .....as the guy no diffed yuno a genius Mage who is equivalent/ stronger than asta at all points in the series with his MP nullification chains YES getting anti magic doesnt automatically make you god of the verse and it has its own unique struggles ... but that rule seems to apply to all non devils (the devils are unargueably OP)... julius had TIME magic and it still took him decades to get to the top of the clover kingdom. Anti-magic is based off anti-matter. Anti-matter is highly destructive in large amounts but not a lot is produced. Similarly, anti-magic needs to match the output of the magic its negating. It was stated it the first couple episodes that even if he sliced the attack, a good portion would still hit him, so he reflected it. Anti-anything will never be overpowered, it exist to balance out everything else.

Lol, kidding aside (although the above is accurate)... a better answer would be that anti-magic is so overpowered that they limit Asta himself. He doesn't know how to use it well. The reason it is overpowered is because he is able to rival someone, who is more powerful than most BECAUSE they have a greater understanding of their particular magic than most, despite being nowhere near as adept with anti-magic than that person is with their magic. I don't think this ruins the show and feel the writer(s) do a decent job still making him struggle despite him having an OP ability. But yes, the ability to nullify magic regardless of its type and strength is absolutely OP... ESPECIALLY in a world that is literally built upon magic. In a world where magic is everything Asta is the living embodiment of it NOT being the case. He will break the classissim of his country. I like that Asta could only use his Anti-Magic sword ruimentary. He needed to learn to handle Anti-Magic in his own way. Asta needing help in battles was a great way to form genuine bonds with his friends just what he wanted when you consider he's an orphan. He was the trump card in battles and the gang cleared the way for him. So he was during a specific time not able to win with Anti-Magic alone. Yet he received the demon-dweller and demon-destroyer to save people dear to him. Now he has refined the Anti-Magic attribute to a very leathal degree. And Asta is still very young there's much room to grow. Like use the swords in the same way Licht has. He inherited fighting styles from underwater temple,clover ,diamond, heart kingdom, elve tribes and land of the sun. I think we can all agree that Asta at the end of the series will be the strongest even outside the clover kingdom. Mostly through his fighting spirit and persistence.

When the only person that can "rival" asta is someone is 2× blessed by mana loved by a spirit poccesses 2 magic types and is a tactical and intelligent genius, then yeah anti magic is overpowered. That is a level of power no normal mage could accomplish even if they trained harder than asta. Every person to beat asta did so by having overpowered magic, insane physical abilities and skill, or just enough mana or a strong enough attack to overwhelm the current application of antimagic. Any mage of the same caliber as asta has to work extra hard to bypass anti magic.

This is wrong considering anti-magic can only negate things it scales too. FYI in thr latest chapter Lucius tanked an anti-magic fireball explosion from Magns with no damage. Magna couldn"t even damage the Lucius's clone with anti-magic until Lucius mana was split between him and Luck, then ganged up on him to take him out. Always powee negation already existed before anti-magic in verse. Anti-magic is just one firm of magic negation. Not mention anti-magic is canoncally considered a low tier power in verse.

Anti-magic still expends energy to negate magic since it canoncally does not negate kinetic energy (stated in chapter 4) Partial Devil union Asta couldn't even cut through Lucius's body in their first battle, yet it could cut his magic, while current Asta in base form can cut through much easier, almost like butter. So no its not overpowered considering anti-magic always gets negged by magic stronger than it.

i think people dont see the difference between a concept and how it actually functions, for example the concept of anti magic nullifying Magic in a world where magic is everything is OP. In BC though anti magic doesn't work like that, all anti magic is as shown are swords imbued with energy that nullifies magic. Astas black form and devil union aren't even related to Anti-magic just the devil that wields it, and people often say am will be op when Asta pulls out an anti magic zone even though this hasnt even been shown to be possible even currently in the manga. for an anti magic zone to happen Asta would have to be able to stretch the anti magic in a wide area from his body which at most he has shown is a small bubble around his body negating magic. Mana zones are possible due to the air itself containing mana, whereas anti magic would all be coming from Astas body in the centre. So one of the things that would actually Make Anti magic op is a hypothetical at best and even then anti magic requires to many prerequisites to be powerful. 1. being physically strong enough without magic to use the swords, 2. Ki to even have a chance against fast opponents and to allow the ability to sense anti magic for black form and will be needed for zetten, 3. knowledge of a forbidden ritual and finally 4. someone to teach you zetten. That list doesnt even relate to Anti magic they are just things that allow you to optimize anti magic which Most people given anti magic would never get and its why rather than anti magic being op its more of anti magic given to Asta is very powerful and even then not op

the way anti magic is used in black cover is allowing a in vs any opponent with the story revolving on the how they capitalize on it. a lot of the different characters that asta fight find ways of dealing with anti magic and actually capatlize on the shortcomings asta has. the one fight that is still distinct in my head is vs vetto in the sea bed temple, asta was physically outmatch and vetto could withstand a decent amount of the swings asta could throw out, which leads to one of the biggest things with the limiting factos of asta is his attacks are limited to what hes physically capable of and what the magic sword can physically touch and if its even magic that he hit. infact one of the things that black clover does well vs other shonen is not thinking it as a power lvl vs power lvl, but application of a ability that if landed will do what its ment to do, and with the ones that do have a need for sufficant power to do something, its all about creating a situation to land it better. this isnt event considering that its not a one sided adaption battle ether.
