I honestly think that this is for the best i fucking hate heavy builds not only di they look mentally ill but they are just a living stat check. I could spend almost the whole time of the round shooting at a heavy build with my harris just to get shot twice and lose instantly. Its the equivalent of playing dark souls or elden as a player fighting bosses with human intelligence and adaptability.@dsaBOSS

I found the old dual Zimmer meta build are already considered as "fair" when compare to these missile rats, at least they need to get close to you and you have chance to fight back, these rats just fly to the heighest place and spamming missile, it's no fun at all, just some guys bloodly want to win. Right. Missile rats are mostly a problem for heavy builds that put all their eggs in a close/mid-range basket. Vertical kiting generally makes these keep-away MORE vulnerable to missiles because they can’t quickboost as effectively as grounded ACs and can’t recharge EN as quickly, although that is less of an issue with coral gens. Point is, I’ve been able to beat missile rats with just one or two missile launchers on a well-rounded build to their three or four missile launchers, just with better dodging. The builds that actually suck are most heavies, things like zook/laser tanks.

A pretty surprisingly versatile build. Only real weakness I noticed in your matches was an opponent that could consistently stay right vertically above you for extended periods, making it difficult to dash to them-- a limitation of the AC controls itself, not the build. The moment they try to get in close or start creating distance, they open themselves up to pursuit and pain.

A part of me wishes there were more rapid fire sholder weapons. Immagine a WW2 style Flack gun. Think about it a machine gun that fires at a decent rate and explodes after reaching a specific distance (or when it gets close to the target/surface) it would be such an effective weapon in PVP of course you would want to balance it by keeping the fire rate low, something like 75-100 RPM? and you would want to keep the damage/AOE low like a plasma field low.

My opinion, the advantage to this build is the long boost ability with the extra generator capacity. I don’t think the four Gatling guns are particularly OP, but the boosting and generator capacity allows them to seem that way. Couple that with extra AP so you can take the hits and it makes for an easy way to catch a rat.

One weapon I have found that is surprisingly effective against these missile rats is the BML-G1/P29CNT no need for lock on just have to wait for it to reload and it can sneak up on them if they don't pat attention. Dual mounted and fired at different angles can stun the lighter builds easily or force them to quick boost a lot to make them hit the ground sooner.

No Dual LCB, Dual LRA? The BVO? and the Redshift Nebula / LRA swapping build? A to S ranks are dominated by these builds.
"Missile Rats" are a symptom of how poor guns bridge the 300-600m gap between melee and missile attacks. From inverted accuracy and projectile speed with attack power and added a stagger mechanic that makes things worse by completely disabling player mechs instead of reducing movement and FCS functionality. That means most people either have to build to inflict as much stagger as possible or avoid it as much stagger as possible. Lastly, for some reason, ranked matchmaking and random custom settings tend to put 1v1 in the larger maps and 3v3 in the smaller maps.

@@edwardayala4314It did receive a buff a while back, if I remember correctly the patch lowered the charge time when you plan on using the jammer on yourself as cover. I use a double flamethrower build on the Lammergeier legs and core with a jammer on my bay, and it’s easily one of the most rage quit inciting builds I’ve created yet lol.

rats wouldn't be an issue, if there would actually be any viable long-range options in this game. (VERY LONG RANT INCOMING ABOUT ARMORED CORE 6 BALANCING! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) so many of the weapons that are "long-range" are unusable at those ranges.many bazookas and plasma weapons have such slow moving projectiles that hitting anything beyond 260 meters is just wasting ammo. (edit: not that I want bazookas or plasma weapons to be reliable on huge distances, they have some of the biggest burst damage out there, if they could reliably hit anything beyond low-Mid range, then they would be cancer, but my point still stands. many of them show an effective range of well beyond 400 meters, despite not being any use at those ranges) You have to be at least 450 meters to lock on to an enemy, but your weapons will only lock on when you are at 390 meters.. except if you are a missile rat, because as long as you are within 450 meters you can lock on and shoot your rockets, the only thing that matters is that your rockets can travel the distance to hit them. The Harris can actually hit ACs up to like 415 meters, depending on their stats, but anything that isn't a guided missile system is not capable of properly locking on a target and actually track it. besides that assault boost is also a huge issue that makes the game fundamentally unbalanced and shifts the entire game towards melee to close range fights, even if the enemy doesn't want to. the only "viable" meta long range build that exists is the missile rat, because no other weapon type that actually can do almost full damage at 300+ meters is basically impossible to hit. As someone who has played all the way up to A-rank and played with only what could be considered an off-meta lightweight, mid-range AC it has become extremely obvious how the majority of ACs you will encounter are designed for short range combat, maybe they dip into mid-range a little bit, but be it lightweight, midweight, heavyweight. Majority of them rely on close-range to make their AC work, that's why assault boost is such an issue. (edit: let me correct myself. assault boost isn't "such an issue", it basically is the core of the issue) While at first it might seem like that every player has the same base abilities: quick boost, quick turning, assault boost, etc. in practice that's not the case. Assault boost is designed for one thing. It's hard to guess, I know. (hint: it's in the name) To assault, to be aggressive, to close the distance. This is further reinforced by the fact that assault boosting locks your camera in front of you, taking away your ability to look around without changing your course. This means melee/close range builds like a BVO build has always a one-button cheat to simply get closer, add on top that you can still dodge effortlessly, weapons that don't prevent you from moving can still be shot during assault boost, you take less impact damage and you 9 out of 10 times move faster than any base boost speed the enemy could probably have then in my opinion it paints a clear picture why it is also a broken ability. Compare this to a mid to long range build who uses a mid to long range FCS. Those, like me, will always have to struggle against melee builds, since they usually are build for speed or always have assault boost to compensate for inferior boost ability. The only way to keep distance against an AC that is focused on melee is to: -turn around -assault boost -sacrifice seeing your enemy, seeing incoming damage and sacrifice doing any damage for that period, while the enemy who might also be assault boosting (possibly faster than you) always has you in lock on, can always do damage, while you are incapable of dodging their attacks properly. Then add on top that the player numbers are extremely low only in the 2-4K players (globally) at the same time, despite 150K+ concurrent players on (pc) launch (source: steamdb) Which forces probably forces many players to play outside their actual region (Europe for me) and play on global servers, which leads to high ping and the fact damage is attacker sided, means you will regularly have to eat 2-4K burst damage. Lots of fun, if you play lightweight with 8K to 10K AP. And don't get me started on the fact that everything Above C-Rank is just meta-slave after meta-slave.. Holy. Shit. All of that together makes the pvp ranked experience one of the worst/mixed "compettive" pvp games I have ever played and I have jumped into a few highly competitive, punishing games over the years and I can't remember one single game where I called "bullshit" that often within the first 24 hours of jumping into it. In (my) conclusion: The two biggest factors right now negatively effecting pvp is the lack of any viable high-mid to long range weapons that can consistently hit average damage and... (Note: I consider average damage to usually be what in most other games would be the "default" gun, the assault rifle's damage. in the case of AC6 that would be around 105 to 157 DMG per shot using the 3, (1 being a burst) assault rifle. It depends on how you calculate it, since technically the burst assault rifle: Rantetsu-AR does 77 DMG per shot, but it is a 3-shot burst rifle, meaing you will always shoot 3 bullets no matter what, so you could look at one burst being "one" shot turning it into 231 Damage per burst. Therefore 105 to 157 DMG per shot. but now back to what I consider the biggest problem, probably) assault boost that could still prevent from my first point being viable, since as long as melee/close range builds have an easy way of reaching a mid to long range AC, mid to long range builds will aways be on the backfoot, always feel like they are being cornered and feeling they can never truly escape a melee build, if that melee build doesn't have any glaring weaknesses or something. The other stuff I mentioned just adds to the problem. I honestly don't see how AC6's pvp is going to stay alive for more than a year at his point, when you consider that from the 150K players it had on steam launch only 2K-4K players stuck around and AC6 has only been out since october last year... (that's around 2.7% of what it was at launch or a 97.3% drop (calculation: 4000/150000 = 0.0266666666667 * 100 = 2.66 ≈ 2.7%) I still love the story/pve, but pvp has been too toxic for me and my mental health honestly, so I dropped it. and I am sure, if long-range weapons and assault boost would get reworked, let alone removed, something else would become OP af, but the biggest issue is simply that in most scenarios melee-range fighters don't have to "actively" fight to stay in ther ACS like mid to long (exception would be missile rats) range ACs.

Valid points, I'm hoping that pvp will be better balanced. I do like that I had to adjust my builds accordingly when I climbed to S rank, but I didn't like how it became rock/paper/scissors. I'm still wanting some kind of co-op to be added for mode variety.

The Rock-Paper-Scissor balancing is fine for a team game like Overwatch as an example or the 3v3 pvp mode that AC6 offers, but that mode feels really fucking dead. even when I look for matches on global servers, I have found like 1 match within the last 2 weeks when I tried to look for 3v3... not saying no one is playing, but it is obvious that the majority of people are in 1v1. And for 1v1, that balancing is just not good or healthy. I really don't see how from soft thought that was a good idea? Maybe an oversight from their experience developing the souls-like games? It would be considerably easier to balance everything, when you know that players can level themselves up and even make a "weak" build strong by simply putting the levels into it. Can't do that with AC6. You wanted to go in and create your sniper biild? Tough luck. Snipers don't really exist at all in this game. @@dsaBOSS

I think you can get better performance out of the NGI gen by swapping the VE40 core for MAIN DISH. The bananas supply adjustment means you'll be waiting way less for your EN to refill after redline, and the bananas high stability aint half bad either. The low EN output adjustment doesn't matter with a coral gen

It would be nice if the ac’s wouldn’t just disappear after they get destroyed. If they added an update where the ac’s would collapse or impact the ground and lay there with predetermined effects. Effects like an arm falling off or maybe if the ac is in the air it has an error where the rockets on a side stay on and it impacts the ground leaving a crater or it slides to a stop and you see the life fade from it. There are many different ways to just make it seem like the ac doesn’t just evaporate.

Me and my dad ended up making a rat cater unintentionally and called him Bulletstorm, instead of being ultra heavy weight he uses reverse joint legs (manly because I love the drop kicks and a normal biped legs wouldn’t give me the instant altitude adjustment the reverse joints give)

You just have to do 2 second bursts with it, it's pretty fun. You can also alternate between the 2 to fire indefinitely. That laced on top of your main weapons give you better performance than huxleys if you can micromanage them.

So that's a timer produced by the first stagger. If you notice, he popped his PA for the first stagger, then got immediately staggered again from the opposing players AA. That second stagger is running off the timer of the first one since it was relatively in the same time window as the first, ending shortly after the second stagger. Small bug? Or intentional? I don't know. It's possibly why most people play heavies, so they can abuse that mechanic when it comes up. Speculation mind you. I generally play LW.

Damn do people actually use the aurora? I think the dangerous missile rats are the ones with soup / aperitif or something along those lines. Also, I really like the term missile rat, well done! I gove credit to you but I'm definitely using that lol

Interesting, though how does this build fair against heavy tanks? The missile rat is mostly a response to such ultra heavy tank builds after all, since that's the main build it works well against.

It depends on the tank. Against laser tanks, it can hold its own. Plasma tanks are an issue because of the constant dps you take staying close.

Wait how come at 8:40 he shot off his laser cannons and got a direct hit and did 0 damage? Like it didnt affect you at all.

It's how the weapons are coded to hit. I believe to Plasma Cannons fired missed on the opposing players screen, producing no damage because officially in the net code, that means they didn't. Pretty sure there is a list somewhere of what weapons have User vs Opponent hitscans (couldn't think of a better term). Basically, some weapon hits go off of the user seeing them hit, some go off of the opponent seeing themselves getting hit. Pretty sure the new LCB Cannons have both. as I have yet to successfully dodge them and they forever look like they are way off the mark.
