@RaniaIsAwesome Fabi must have checked this line (which is much rarely played) thoroughly with engines and come up with a plan against a strong player like Wojtaszek because he much must have found it to be working for him. I dusted off "Lasker's Manual of Chess" and decided to read it right from beginning to end. Yes, including the very basics. Lasker has a way of speaking to you right from the grave in this book. Lasker was also criticized (notably by Tarrasch) of making an anti-positional moves from time to time. I've really become quite fascinated by Lasker recently. His philosophy on chess is so profound. I firmly believe, that if you are a beginner and study Lasker's words and strategems, you will be a very difficult opponent to beat. Lasker's standing among the greats of chess should never be understated.

I think the reason Caruana played this is because he wanted to play Ne5 with either of his knights. If you think about this you can see that with his knight being on e5 his bishop would be blocked, so not so impressive anymore. Furthermore Wojtaszek's knight could go Nd5 and it would be really hard to get rid of. So by playing Bxc3 Caruana actually solved both problems.

About ending. Why it's lost if you lose that rook on d1? You will have rook and two bishops vs two rooks, and you can start picking those scary pawns with your second rook while also preventing black from queening. So why is this losing?
