7:02 - Granted, manually-guided missiles like the Sagger are themselves quite effective in the hands of a skilled operator (as Israel learned to their sorrow in the early part of the Yom Kippur War, when Sagger-armed Egyptian infantry wiped out a large chunk of Israel's total tank force), but this requires a lot of training to produce missile operators who can effectively steer the missile to the target _and_ avoid losing their nerve (and letting the missile go wild) under enemy fire.

@cooldawggaming18022 жыл бұрын
This reminds me of the time where The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

5:45 - Of course, unguided rockets are also vastly cheaper than guided, so you can afford to simply shoot lots of them at the enemy tanks to make sure that some of them hit (and keep in mind that many of the misses will still end up hitting things like the _other_ tanks in the formation, as well as creating havok in the escorting infantry [although admittedly less than rockets with dedicated anti-infantry high-explosive warheads do]).
@thomasfrancis25952 жыл бұрын
There are some inaccuracies here. Just an example: Shaped charges do not have a detonator at the end of a cone shaped cavity. The detonator sits right at the back of the HE, reason being you want the shock wave to move rear to front in order to support the formation of the copper jet. At the front of the ‘cone’ (which is there for aerodynamics and stand off), you will more likely see some form of piezoelectric Crystal, making the system ‘PIBD’ or Point Initiating Base Detonating. Kind of like the HESH rounds, but with a shaped charge. I remember being on a job once at a scrap yard where some naff metal was mistaken for ammunition… anyway whilst parked around the corner waiting for the next job to come through (EOD), some guy walks up and knocks on our window: “glad you guys happen to be here- I just found this in my scrap metal”…. Turned out to be an RPG warhead. Crazy what turns up!

3:25 HEAT stands for High Explosive Anti Tank. not High Energy 7:54 it's called the FGM not FMG simple mistake. but still. you also mentioned multiple times that they desired a one-man portable anti tank weapon, but you forgot to mention the crew sizes of operating a TOW or a Javelin. 2 for the Javelin and 3 for the manportable TOW. The part where you explain shaped charges was really hard to follow, even for someone who already knows how they work. i feel this part should have been animated, you even used a Diagram but not one that had the terms you used on it. the whole part between 1:42 and 4:10 has extremely lazy animation that doesn't help explain anything, and the script sounds as the one kid in class that just reads straight from wikipedia on his presentation. why do you highlight the tank at 2:44? the tank was already in focus, and you were talking about the copper lining, why wasn't that on screen? at 7:58 a guy is shown firing a javelin. seemingly without having the command launch unit attached to the missile tube, and without his crewmate. also i have never seen a Javelin be launched from a standing position without being rested on a wall or other terrain. i usually enjoy your videos a lot but this one was sub-par, i would consider re-doing parts of it.
