ANTI ZAFINA Drill Guide | TEKKEN 8

A demonstration/guide for an anti/counter Zafina training drill in TEKKEN 8. The drill becomes more difficult throughout the video. Feel free to mix and match, or add your own challenges!
The drill is designed to build muscle memory around reacting to different attacks and situations from Zafina, whether it be ducking and launching strings, reacting to lows, punishing unsafe moves, interrupting stances etc. This is (IMO) a hyperbolic time chamber style of training, where you have immediate positive results after each training session.

A very important detail, zafina d3 is -15 if she stays un neutral, but it's only -13 if she enters mantis stance, most of the time zafina players enters mantis stance, so it's betters to punish d3 with -13.

Day 5 of asking for an anti-Alisa guide

Alisa is very easy. - If she is at medium or long distance she will try to make robotic charging movements towards you, you can sidestep them and punish them. - If she is around she will try to take out the chainsaws all the time, interrupt her with generic low jab and she will take them away. Sometimes he will try a sweep (d3+4) just crouch and launch

Great guide! As a Zafina main I recommend folks also be aware that the last hit on (2, 1, 3) and (df4, 1) can be canceled to mix up the opponent.

Thanks for the drill! Looking forward to an anti-Xiaoyu drill in the future. I unfortunately have not gotten enough experience fighting Xiaoyu players due to their rarity, and when I do finally face off against one, I often get crazy knowledge checked. Your previous video about neutral goes over some Xiao stuff, but it would be cool to see a more in-depth video against that character.

Notes from a Zafina main (purple ranks) in case it's helpful! The biggest knowledge check move I throw out is Mantis 31, a low mid string that is hard to deal with and launches if the mid lands for a full combo. On this list, I use d3 and scarecrow 4 a ton. Scarecrow 4 I mainly use by trying to bait people into it from other scarecrow moves. For example, I transition to scarecrow with 13, use scarecrow 33, all of which usually get blocked. Then you try to punish scarecrow 33 and I catch you with the power crush of scarecrow 4. For d3, I mainly use it to transition into Mantis stance to mix and try to trip you up with Mantis 31 as explained above. Also look out for Mantis d4, a very sneaky move. It slides forward and counter hit launches. Not hard to punish but it's so often unexpected because the range is ridiculous, and again it literally moves Zafina to you so she can get a decent chunk of follow up combo damage.

This is a drill for offensive zafina. A defensive one will sidestep and backdash alot so find a middle ground to beat both I personally check around the movelist to see which move track which side for example most people don't know that Lee jab track right while his df1 track left (he inherit it from Negan) and his d4 is almost homing even tho it's -14 and db3 db3+4 also track quite well. So keep in mind what poke/check you can use to stop their sidestep

You can't counter Zafina with this She has a very good stance game which you didn't describe at all, like her transitioning moves to SCR on block are best walked to the right, like she can check you after plus on block ff3 and f3, where you should interrupt the transitions and so on

It's borderline but with this one in particular, the animation starts very early and is pretty recognisable which helps in reactability
