I am beyond excited for A Psalm for the Wild Built. I love the Wayfarer books.

Yay! I'm surprised I haven't heard too many people talking about the new Becky Chambers, but I also haven't been watching a ton of booktube lately. I hope you enjoy the new books! I really need to give Wayfarer a try!

Eeek, I hope I like it! I'm a little nervous about the romance part since I'm not a big fantasy romance reader. Fingers crossed!

@@BedtimeBookworm Sush isn't a big fantasy romance reader either, but he adored Empire of Sand & Realm of Ash, as did another friend of mine who is an epic fantasy reader (loves The Name of the Wind, etc.). I'm betting it'll be totally fine!

Sullivan is also someone that has been on my radar forever. Also just red my first red riding hood retelling but didn’t love it. It was the novella Burning Roses
@BedtimeBookworm3 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of burning roses! I'll try to avoid that one lol. After filming this I remembered I had tried one red riding hood retelling before and I DNFed it lol. Yes, Sullivan has been on my radar forever too - I'm just in the middle of so many series i've been holding off on starting lol.

So many of these releases are also on my radar (and TBR, in some cases, also thanks to NetGalley)! Hope we both get a lot of reading done this summer and that it includes some of these new releases. 🥰

I love the cover and synopsis of Red Wolf! I also really liked a short fiction collection that Catherynne Valente wrote, The Melancholy of Mechagirl. I need to read more from her, I really like the way she blends myth and fantasy.
@BedtimeBookworm3 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of the melancholy of mechagirl! I'll have to look that one up. I feel like her books have a lot of breadth and are different from each other, just based on what I've heard about them since I haven't actually read anything by her yet LOL.

Hi lovely! As someone who has read all of Michael’s books and I’m currently reading an advance of Nolyn! I highly recommend going in publication order for his books. So Riyria first and then Legends of the First Empire. You’ll miss so much if you start with Nolyn and while you can read it as a stand-alone so much of the world will be lost if you do! If you can’t tell I’m a major Sullivan enthusiast. I will say if you read legends before Nolyn that would also work as I know it’s a lot of books even just in that series! If you need help with the reading order let me know 🥰
@BedtimeBookworm3 жыл бұрын
Ok this is good to know about Michael Sullivan's books! I will stick with my gut and go in publication order - so many books to read and catch up on that way haha. Thanks for the advice!! ❤

LOL but you keep up with your ARCs way better than I do!! I have so many backlist books I want to read that I usually regret the pressure of NetGalley ARCs haha.

I hadn't been aware that NOLYN was in the same universe, I'm in the middle of Sullivan's First Empire series so I'll probably have to delay my reading of this newest one. I can't wait for my library to get For the Wolf 🙂. I've not read anything by Becky Chambers or Grady Hendrix although both are on my radar. The only Red Riding Hood retelling I've read is The Girl in Red by Christina Henry.
@BedtimeBookworm3 жыл бұрын
Oooh, I hope you've been enjoying the first empire seires! Doesn't For the Wolf sound so good?? I really want to read The Girl in Red by Christina Henry!! Especially since I enjoy horror. Did you enjoy that one?
@maryjohnson62963 жыл бұрын
Bedtime Bookworm I liked The Girl in Red but I didn't love it. It is a very loose retelling of Little Red Riding Hood but I did enjoy much of what the author changed. I can't remember if there was a conclusion though, it might have been a fade to black, reader make your own assumption type of ending.

Well, I'm with you on Riley Sager. I have Survuve the Night on Hold at the library. I should be the first person to get it...so I will be getting to it as soon as it is released. Hopefully. I've read all his books and loved every one of them. She Who Became the Sun sounds very interesting. Yes, I like the US cover better than the UK cover. When the library gets it...I'll be picking it up. I really need to read Michael J. Sullivan. I own a few of his books. Our local library was giving away books and I actually picked up some actual books. I think I got his first series. So, I need to read it. Right? Everyone seems to love them. Great Summer releases. One that I am interested in is Aetherbound, by E. K. Johnston. I believe you do not like her writing (I think), but I've read a few of her books and have enjoyed them. So, that is the only one I could add to the list. Well, there is a Cavan Scott - High Republic Star Wars book, but it is the second in his series and the fifth overall for the realm of books set in that era. I read the first four and loved them. Thanks for this heads up. Talk to you later.
@BedtimeBookworm3 жыл бұрын
Oooh I hope you enjoy Survive the night too! It's definitely a wild ride (i'm almost done with it now). Maybe we can read the Michael J Sullivan books together! But also who knows when I will realistically get to them so don't let me hold you back lol.
@grafffuller32653 жыл бұрын
@@BedtimeBookworm - I really don't have any doubt that I'll love it (have loved the previous four books). About the Michael J. Sullivan books. I've got a lot on my plate, so keep me in mind, if you start (or desire to start) keep me in mind. I'll do the same...if I am craving on reading them soon. Thanks.

Is red riding hood the new beauty and the beast? I am kinda the same when it comes to wanting to read back catalogue books before a new book by a new-to-me author. I was kinda thinking this with the jasmine throne and whether I should try to read her other series first 🤔

Hahah maybe! There have been other red riding hood retellings come out before that I've heard of but I just have yet to read one! Actually after filming this I remembered I did try to read one in the past and I DNFed it LOL. Well whichever way you go with the Tasha Suri books I hope you enjoy them!
