Hi, Dan here. :) I don’t think I’m too likely to forget this med! Oh, and I’ve thrown up on myself once or twice (no details!), so I fit both criteria!

Your videos are great. I appreciate this antiemetics video. Having us recall throwing up on someone was helpful for remembering "on-Dan"_setron. Would be great to know which drug interactions would worsen the GQ prolongation. Thanks

There are many drugs which can lengthen a patient's QT interval, including medications such as ondansetron, but the most notable classes are antiarrhythmics (because any time we intentionally mess with a patient's cardiac rhythm, we can cause changes in other ways!). QT interval prolongation puts our patients at risk for Torsades de Pointes, which can be lethal. Here's a journal article from Therapeutic Advances in Drug Safety that discusses some other QT-prolonging medications: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4110870/ Drug-induced QT interval prolongation: mechanisms and clinical management doi: 10.1177/2042098612454283

Ive used Zofran for nausea caused by viral gastritis (norovirus) im sure is the culprit. It was a game changer, relieved my nausea and i was actually able to eat a little. Stuff works great!
