The two brothers fought each other because they decided to rule together and switch the position of power with each other after certain time. When it was polyneikes turn, his brother wouldn't let go of his power which is why they started fighting. This is another reason why it is unfair that polyneikes didn't get buried and his brother, eteokles, did. Eteokles didn't keep his promise and wanted all the power to himself whereas polyneikes fought for fairness.

Antigone may have spoken the greatest line in Greek theatre when boldly she asks Creon this question. "Can one man be the government"?
@taekinuru2 Жыл бұрын
The weirdest bit about this story I think is that the gods are barely involved? Creon’s hubris dooming him is entirely of his making. And perhaps that’s interesting in and of itself.

When you read the play the presence of god is there all right. The gods’ will mainly materialize through supernatural occurrences, like a sudden sandstorm that conceals Antigone from the guards’ eyes.

@REDACTED114 ай бұрын
this is one of the worst tellings of Antigone ive ever heard of my life, its missing so many crucial details, Antigone cornered king Creon into condemming her to death, even though he tried to save her, because the burial of her brother wasnt something she sought out to do out of honor and respect to the gods, it was nothing but a pretext to end her life, as she had realized she was a product of incest. there are many more details missing from this video

@mahmoodali33342 жыл бұрын
@Rina To prevent the deeds that make the Gods angry with you. This is considered wisdom by the Greek. Fear of their rage because bad things will happen if you make them angry
@sweethoney4552 Жыл бұрын
the moral of the story is to honor the gods but it’s irrelevant to modern times so it can be interpreted as law versus morality. the law was that polyneikes be left behind (regardless of him honestly being the victim) and antigone honored her family more than the law. in perspective, its like people getting harsh punishment that is undeserving. greek mythology often shows victims appearing as villians like the story of medusa who was assaulted and made into a monster but this is far darker and dramatic
