In today’s video, we’re taking you to a little island in the Caribbean: Antigua!
It had been a few years since we last travelled to the Caribbean, so to say we were excited was an understatement! AND because our visit also happened to coincide with Antigua Sailing Week, there was quite literally even more reason to celebrate.
So in this video we’re going to show you some fun things to do in Antigua and taking you along to some of Sailing Week related activities.
Antigua Sailing Week started back in 1968 when a group of friends decided to hold a regatta. Because quite a few in the group worked in the tourism industry, the objective of the regatta was to extend the winter season by getting people to stay on the island just a little bit longer. And well, today it’s become one of the biggest events of the year!
And because the Sailing Week celebrations were happening, we also got to enjoy Reggae in the Park featuring international artists.
It’s no secret that we love to eat, so we were very excited to learn how to prepare a few Caribbean dishes - all of them featuring rum.
And in between all the cooking, there was also time for a rum tasting, which was a pleasant surprise!
The meal turned out wonderful and we really enjoyed getting to share it with other travellers. We had seconds, thirds, and then it was time for a mouthwatering cake!
And last but least, we made some time to visit the capital of Antigua: St John’s.
Initially, our plan had been to try and find some Caribbean food in town, but everyone kept suggesting Big Banana, so that’s where we ended up.
And that’s a wrap for Antigua!

Everything is just so beautiful! The water! The delicious food! The sunset! Gosh, I so badly want to go to Antigua. And 365 beaches; that's insane. It's amazing with the tropics how quickly the weather changes. I remember when I visited Florida, one hour the sun was out and the next it was pouring rain. The topics are really crazy but beautiful places! Amazing video, as always!

Great video. My wife is Antgiuan and we visit once or twice a year. We just started getting into family travel vlogging and looking forward to our Thanksgiving trip to do some in depth videos to give other people travel advice. In the 20+years we've been going to Antigua we seem to notice most tourist never venture out of the resort. Huge mistake. Antigua has a feel unlike any of the other islands. Its something hard to explain, but your video really is great advice for folks. Love the video! You've just gotten another subscriber we can't wait to see more of your videos!

Audrey, next time you travel and you know you're going to be motion sick (car, boat, plane, train, etc) get Transderm-V. You can get it at Shoppers over the counter at the pharmacy, it's a patch that goes behind your ear and it is basically a steady stream of gravol in your system for 3 days straight. A box comes with 2 patches, it's especially nice if you're going on a cruise. Changed my life! I used to get so motion sick from prolonged travel, especially on boats. I tell anyone to get this now, it's like a miracle drug!

Antigua is so beautiful, I loved that beach next to your hotel! The cooking and rum class was incredible, specially for the rum tasting 😄. I love the sun, the beaches, but I am a bit worried just like Sam, since I am also very white. I got really sunburned once, I think it was in Cancun, I got as red as a lobster 😂. But I still jump into the water in despite of that "skin color issue". Food in Antigua in general looked very good. What's mahi-mahi? A kind of fish? I have already seen this dish although I've never tried it.

A local woman fix our group chicken curry roti. That is apparently very popular there. We also had a local favorite bun and cheese.

St. Lucia is one of the best Caribbean islands. It rains a lot in Barbados, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Antigua, Grenada, and Trinidad this time of year. There are 365 days in a year. Those islands receive more than 200 days of rain each year. That BBQ dinner did look delicious.

You guys will have to visit Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic too. Tourists usually love that resort. There's also Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas. That resort has everything you could possibly want.
