@@VortexRadarwhat do you think about the TMG Alpha-17 system for an area with no dragon eye?

I keep seeing issues with that system as well. It’s an option with its advantages like anything else, and it should do the job, but I’m not in love with it by any means.

Thanks for the video for sure. It explains why my system allowed a punch through against the dragon eye resulting in a ticket. I wasn’t happy one bit. When I lose confidence in something it takes a lot to gain it back. ALP needs to get on the stick quickly to remedy this or they will lose a 8 year customer. If they can update as quick as they did during your testing they should not have a problem updating the software as quick as tonight.
@CDUBMERCАй бұрын
So, a little follow up on my situation. Right now I’m running the HW 4 and the software vs. 5.7.1 which ALP said was the latest version. I’m curios on their suggestion if anyone wants to chime in here. My vehicles are 2020 F150, 2022 F350, and 2023 Bronco. Each has the same laser system with 2 regular sensors and one black TX sensor. All vehicles are up to date with same software version. ALP is suggesting I add another TX sensor, due to the large front ends, and believes this could be the reason for the punch through of the dragon eye, resulting in the ticket. Before I upgrade to the HW6 what do you guys think of the suggestion? Especially, with all the testing that’s been done that is spoken of in this video? Thanks for your help and feedback.

Thanks for the video. Much appreciate your honesty & integrity handling this. ALP has been the gold standard but we've all seen issues over the past couple years and it's too often been ignored.

If I paid $3,000+ for a laser jamming system and got a punch-through resulting in a ticket, I'd be *pissed.* I've only been hit with laser once or twice ever, there's no excuse for it not to work perfectly.
@Him_othy2 ай бұрын
What system u have?
@ericmueser2 ай бұрын
@Him_othy Well I have a unit in R8 which is capable of running jammers, but I don't have any of the jamming heads or other hardware. My main defense against laser is lawyers and Waze.
@Him_othy2 ай бұрын
@ yeah i love wave and my radar but my biggest thing is in my 610-4. It has no screen for waze since it is only a 2016. Thinking of getting jammers but honestly probably not cuz i dont even get tickets as it is. As long as your no speeding EVERYWHERE and you are aware you shouldnt get a lot of tickets. Plus laser jammers are illegal in every state too
@ericmueser2 ай бұрын
@Him_othy *Laser* Jammers are legal in all but 13 states. You're probably thinking of *radar* jammers which are illegal in all 50 states with *super* high penalties, and are also virtually unobtainable. My usual setup if I'm planning on going fast is my Uniden R8 for radar detection and my phone on a windshield mount running Highway Radar (an app similar to Waze but basically on steroids). That works great in any car regardless of its technology, and even when I'm on my motorcycle I can connect the radar detector to my phone and get radar and crowd sourced audibly through my helmet. I've never gotten a ticket running this setup. I've only come across cops running laser three times in my entire time driving, two of which I got tickets from because I wasn't running an app, and one of which with a friend which we were warned about from Highway Radar. A lawyer got me out of both of those tickets, and for significantly less than it would have cost to get a laser jamming system.

It seems like Uniden is leaving a lot of money on the table by not having a more budget friendly option, especially in light of these recent results. I feel like TPX is going be the big winner here.

Honestly its gotten to the point that I don't firmware update until I check the forum and get a report from Vortex. I have been hit by a dragoneye before on an older version of the firmware and I haven't updated since then. It saved me then. It kinda feels like ALP is more concerned about protecting their intellectual property from getting stolen than they are about protecting my car from revenuers with badges.

On the Tesla Cybertruck, what was being targeted on the vehicle? I didn't see a front license plate, and it doesn't appear to have reflective headlight housings. Man, I was so tempted to pull the trigger on the ALP, but more and more I look at the TPX system. Awesome video and 411, thanks for all that you do Ariel!

It doesn't need to be a super reflective target. Anything newer than the turn of the millennium should lock on to the body all the way out to 2000ft+. It's only the really old 90s guns where you really want to target reflective spots for best lock at distance
