Nissan in the the mid 90’s put out a TSB for the upper guides on the KA to be removed as they were deemed unnecessary.

Big question man took off the chain guides now the car cranks but doesn’t start? Any suggestion? Maybe timing off?

In order to do the timing chain guides, do I have to drain the oil ? Just wondering because my k24 has that same issue with the loud ass chain lol
@aikonjapan2 жыл бұрын
To do what i did, i didnt drain the oil.

I am trying to do this rn on my own and my dad kept bugging me over my sholder cuz he didn’t want me messing anything up then came time to take off the distributor and that’s when he got all scared saying when I put it back it’s gonna mess up the timing on my chain even though I had already marked with a marker where it originally was and I was wondering if that’s true so I can finish up in time 6:31

Best of luck to ya. I’ve watched a single cam eat through a set of timing chain guides in 3000 miles before 🤣. Nissan didn’t design the guides using that great of plastic so it tends to get brittle after just a few heat cycles. You’ll notice they use a different plastic on their newer timing chain motors like the MR18 series found in Versas, Altimas, Etc. I don’t know why there wasn’t ever a mechanical revision for these guides. Specifically the driver side guide tends to fail first.

And it will be similar or the same in the sr20det engines

my s13 cranks but doesn’t start, i have a feeling it’s because it’s been running with the same oil for a couple years. Not 100% sure tho any pointers?
@aikonjapan3 жыл бұрын
I dont think its the oil, chack is your timing is right, and its getting fuel and air and spark
