Well, the best way to refurb this is but installing a 101a or b network made by western electric 10$ and a 2 lead capacitor, also maybe put a real vintage #5 western dial ( also western electric is the one who probably made the phone) either them or kellogg

iv got an exact phone box given to me made by Western Electrics with the same dial conversion.

I bought a 1900s Ericsson, I fixed up the body of it but the cord to the handset is in pretty bad repair, any ideas on how to cover an old cable to keep it looking authentic?

I heard your remark on why these shouldn’t be behind glass, I really think they should since I’ve seen some really terrible restorations to many phones, and how a lot of them are mistreated and destroyed in the process, my plan is for preservation not destruction, but I do see how having them to see how they tic is good.

The only reason the audio quality isn’t as good as it has a carbon transmitter, which perish over time but you can replace them with an electronic one (21A) you can usually pick them up on eBay and it improves the audio greatly to the standard of a modern phone. Hope you get the wall phone working, it should work, just will need a bit of tinkering.

you can still dial by tapping. 0 i 10 taps, 1 is 1 etc. needs to be consistent gaps with no pauses. try 123 for a start

Oh please oh please can somebody tell me how I would go about hanging this antique phone on the wall? I cannot seem to find out anywhere where it attaches to the wall without damaging it

on my phone there are four screw holes at each corner, so its pretty easy, but if you dont have any then take a look insode as there may be mountings inside the case
