On the first video covering the sears suburban 12, we were able to get it running after years of sitting. In this video we will try to do some adjusting on the carburetor to see if we can get it running smoother. The charging system is questionable on here with some homemade alternator setup. We look into it to see if it will charge the battery.

Looking good. Sounds like your doing a good job. I installed tubes on all my old (69, 72 & 78) sears and are still running the original tires. Just depends on if the cords are not broken too bad on the old tires. I keep about 10 to 12 lbs of air in all of them.

I wish I could have saved the fronts on this one, but unfortunately they had about a 4 inch tear/hole in each one. I really appreciate the advice and support. I’m currently working on the Sears custom 7. Hoping to have the video done in the next week.

@@freedommowers420 I had a custom 10 a few years ago but sold it to a young guy looking to get something he could use and not have to throw away after a few years. Kind of wish I'd have kept it but space was getting to be a problem. I also had a disk, cultivator, and mole board plow that I gave away. Since then I've moved about 400 mi. south into southern Missouri. Now thinking I'd like to have them back to make a garden spot. Maybe I'll find some equipment down here. Good luck on the custom 7 and I'll be looking forward to the video🙂

That's the big GM alternator with like you said a bad regulator. Even though it's the wrong carb, you set it to run really well. I would leave off the wheel weights too. I'm glad you were able to save the idler pulleys life. Quaker's is cool. Good job so far 🔧👍

Thank you Artie. I am going to be getting back to this tractor here in a little bit. I really want to use the original charging system on it if I can. I really want to keep all of these tractors as original as I can.

Yessir. Seems to be running much better. Now if I can get this charging system fixed it will be ready to tear down for a restoration.

I’m really surprised honestly. I guess the motor it came off from was close enough in fuel delivery that it works with some adjustment. I’ve got another tractor video coming Friday on one of the others I picked up 🤘🤘

Mine is the sears onan gt 19.9 engine that did have a carburetor problem I havent test started after cleaning the carburetor its been to rainy and now to cold and snowy out to test the cleaned carburetor Yours condenser seems to be working good. I seen on mines carburetor float when I had it apart if it ever fills up full of gas then the needle blocks the main hole but I was thinking that might be why before it wasn't getting no gas still have to clean its old gas pump out take it all apart but I can still test the cleaned carb the piston head nearest to the battery needs cleaned to but I always get stiff at the most wrong times you know or have to work in a heat advisory weather we just get called in at the most wrong times sometimes I was about to turn down those old mowers but couldn't I'm not a hoarder

I plan on restoring it as soon as I can get time to really get into it. I want to fix the original charging system first and then tear it down for a restore.

Yea it’s a shame they cut that hood up, but I’m going to see about fitting some new sheet metal in there when I get it ready for paint.

Great work Alex! Ya I’d say it sounds really healthy with that carb on there so that’s a win! I found a replacement LME style for 25 bucks on Amazon for the HH100-HH120’s but haven’t tested 1 out yet lol Looks like she’ll need the axle seals replaced, part number 9838 from NAPA. Great progress on her for sure!

Well if I ever need to replace that carb that’s probably where I’ll go. Thank you I think it’s pretty much dialed in with this carb, but I’ll give it some time for minor adjustments. Thank you for the part number. That is on my list of fixes, but I’ll make sure to get two seals at Napa. 💪💪

Alex it's starting to look like a tractor again. Yeah that alternator would kill a battery. The engine sounds good and it really did need a fresh oil change. Very cool! 👍🇺🇸🚜 Roger

what do you do for a living Alex ..?? ..by the way..I have an early '70s --looks just like the blue one in this video..(except the friend that gave it to me about 20 years ago reconditioned it , and decided to paint it dark GREEN...!! )...BUT "can't look a gift horse in the mouth" ...(whatever that means...!!!) ..I also have a blue and white one for parts ..bought it at auction, years ago,--missing the motor.. but..a lot of good parts..!!..I've learned from watching your videos,(and others who have a like ADDICTION about these old rascals, ) that the engine is a "tecumseh" --I always assumed it was a "briggs" ..I don't know the hp ..anddon't start if but all the nomenclature plates and decals are painted over...!! ..but...I'm excited for spring to come ..maybe I can find time to "play" with it a little...!! ..stay warm and SAFE, young man ..and keep filming ..!!!

That’s great. I’m excited for you to have something to enjoy come spring time. Yes a lot of these machines came with the tecumseh engine as well as the bigger ones with the ONAN engine.
