@time4clocks4 ай бұрын
Hello. If that is the only oil you have it would be better than nothing. Some use synthetic car oil 10-40. Never use any oil that has Sulphur in it. There is oil made specifically for clocks but don't know if it is available in your country. If you can find a shop that repairs clocks they might sell you some oil. Hope that helps.

do I need to oil the springs ?
@time4clocks Жыл бұрын
Yes, all springs need some oil. Not dripping oil, but lightly coated, so as they wind and unwind the coils slip against each other.

I was gifted a Seikosha wall clock by my Buy Nothing group. The case is in poor shape but I'm hopeful the inner works are just needing cleaned. Your video series is going to be my guide. Thank you so much!

Yes, 1935 was the date it received repair or servicing. I think it was made between 1915-1920 in the Taisho era.

@@time4clocks Yes! Seikosha was produced before 1923, after 1923 Seiko!

Your channel was recommended by Scott (Old Curiosity Shop). Interesting video. I don't know how you will remember where all the screws go, afterwards. (LOL)

Just for fun and for our knowledge can you give a price for a restoration like this one....(circa)? It's so delicate work....
@time4clocks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Fabien! You have to remember I do not repair clocks for a living. A shop would charge hundreds. One subscriber took an old alarm clock into a shop to get a price quote and was told $350. The clock was only worth about $60. A shop has to get paid and usually charges by the hour $$$. My repairs are done for the joy of doing them, nothing else. Hope that helps! -Ab.

Thank you, JJ. You got a good deal for £10. These are really nice clocks and don't take up too much room. I've seen models with this same face and it seems they used the same design for several years.

Saludos a ti, Ab.
