One more thing! When I tried to set the beat of the clock at the end of the video it was off. I do not yet have an ear for distinguishing an even beat but I'm trying. Just Mike was correct when he said the last beat was terrible. Sorry about that folks! Will try to get better! LOL

Coming late to the party, I missed any lulls between episodes, so it all flowed nicely. If I ever muster the bravery to take a clock apart, I'll be referencing this video! I was fascinated watching you reassemble the movement. I can make things look nice, but my mechanical skills are very limited. The clock looks great, respectfully restored so it still shows it's had a long life. It was fortunate to have found a new life with you. I look forward to exploring your existing videos, while eagerly awaiting new ones. Thanks so much Ab, from Daniel in Grand Rapids, MI.

Thank you, Practical Fixes. I didn't realize it at the time but that video link I posted where the Indian fellow coiled his mainspring by hand, I noticed later everything in the video was reversed. I've seen people use their phones to film and for some reason the video is reversed like in a mirror. I didn't want to mention it to him in a comment as he might be embarrassed. Anyhow, I was glad to finish the video as I learned quite a few things as well. 😁
@practicalfixes40392 жыл бұрын
@@time4clocks I watched that video and never noticed it was a mirror image. Well, lots of things escape me now such as spelling and vocab, both English and Arabic words, hand coordination and sight, so no wonder I did not notice. AS a 70s year old said" I wish my 60s are back". I wish you all the best, you and your loved ones friend.

Greetings Ab! You know what they say about the journey of a thousand miles. I'm very glad to see you made it all the way to the last mile. Was it a slow journey? Well, yeah. It was. Was it a profitable journey? Most certainly! Not only for you, but for us who have watched from a distance. I've been repairing clocks since 2009 and I learned more than a few things from you. But one of the best things about your videos is your demeanor. It's hard to find people who are simply pleasant to be around. I don't know where you live, but I think we could really enjoy some clock fellowship if you ever make it in your journeys to SC! And I'd be happy to show you a few things I've learned in horology. Now I've got to look for an old Seikosha clock. It looks like yours is very well made. The newer Asian clocks of the last 30 or 40 years are not nearly of the same quality as the older versions. The 30-day Asian clocks (and especially the Chinese versions) are particularly bad and even dangerous if you're not extremely careful with the crazy strong mainsprings. I look forward to seeing what you'll do next. And if you ever need some clock-related advice, feel free to ask. I certainly don't have all the answers, but that doesn't prevent me from having an opinion about nearly everything! All the best to you, friend.

Thank you so much, pafurnace. I'm in Arizona. In clock repair, and in life, we can all learn from each other. The old Seikosha clocks took western designs and improved upon them. So far, everyone that I find with an old Japanese clock is impressed by them. Please keep in touch and I am honored you consider my videos worth watching. Best regards, Ab. 🙏

HI MR AB, #7 was one of the best videos you have done! I loved the way you reassembled the movement. One of the best i have ever seen, and i have seen a lot! See you are a master woodworker. You do beautiful work. I remember when you were afraid to take a movement apart! You have come a long way. Loved the way you showed the Asian art work and the music.

I am so happy you are back and doing what you enjoy. Been worried about you. Your an expert in my book. and that is why I showcase you in my Channel section. You show others that need help how to work on their own clocks as I do. Love the history you find on the clocks you are working on as well. On my parlor clocks, I have never found a wire to hold the trip lever from hitting the count wheel. That is a great idea to put one on. I like that gripping screw driver. That beat you set last was terrible, lol. I guess that is why they make an amplifier for the beat. Yea! the clock is done now with all the stuff going on in your life. GREAT Job. God Bless

Thanks, Mike! I admit I don't have an ear for the beat. Hopefully, I will get better or get the earwax out! 😁

Ab, I really enjoyed this series of repair videos for this Seikosha wall clock. I also have an early Seikosha wall clock among my collection of American, German and English clocks. I'm happy to report that the cabinet is in very nice condition and shows all the earmarks of a remarkably sturdy and exceptionally good quality build. I think the Seikosha's have been underrated for much too long, glad to see them getting some long overdue consideration from horology enthusiasts. I think they make a fine quality clock (many with works similar to Ansonia's) and still available at affordable prices..... but maybe not for too much longer, as people are wising up to them! Your knowledge is quite good with these Japanese clocks, do you suppose if I sent you a few pictures of my Seikosha, you might be able to help me date it? Please keep up the great work and thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with all of us. Be well.

Sure! On my channel page click on ABOUT and then click on email contact and then click on the email address. I love to see other people's clocks and even though there is a big language barrier, these clocks can usually be dated within about 10 years or so. Also, if there is a label on the back or inside, photo that as well. Thanks also for the feedback. That kind of thing helps me press on. Sometimes I have no idea what to do next. Best regards, Ab.😸

Thank you for the great videos featuring your Antique Seikosha Wall Clock. You did a fantastic job describing your restoration as well as a great job restoring it. I don't remember if it was during this job or on another clock restore you did but while you were cleaning parts you mentioned that some folks just clean with kerosene. My father's dad cleaned their clocks using "paraffin" just like you mentioned. That's all he used. I'm looking forward to watching more of you videos. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Thank you, neiltan1939, for your nice comment and well wishes. Hope your holiday will be joyful and happy. I think in the UK they call it white paraffin or just parafinn, which is actually kerosene here in the states. Your encouragement is appreciated 👍😸
