The ideal class for a Farmall M is 5500 and 6000 # class. That M is obviously bored out to a larger cubic inch. If I had to guess the M is running over 60 horse. I pull my M in 5500 and 6000 # class all the time , and sometimes run out of power. I dynoed my M at 55 horse three years ago.

We used to have an 880 Oliver diesel and wide front. Always seemed to have the power no matter what we were doing. I'm more partial to the Oliver's with the heavy cast grills myself.

I've pulled in pulls like that with a stock 460 gas and a stock 560 diesel. I use them at home on a normal basis. There was an old guy who pulled an m in 4 classes. He started in 5500 pound and the last one was 8000. Not kidding he got 3 in the 8000. I learned that these boys don't play fair and there engines are built. The look stock but they are not. I wish we still had out of the field pulls. They used to have one every year at the county fair. If u happened to blow everybody out of the water u got hooked to the dyno that was at the end of the track. They would allow u to be 10 horse over stock. More than that and u were disqualified. Made it stay honest that way.
