You're doing a grand job, preserving these programmes. I was privileged to have worked on the programme for more than seventeen years. In fact this was the first episode I edited.

Thank you. The only reason I started to upload these episodes on to KZbin was because there was no other way to watch these episodes in any way, shape or form anywhere. However, there are still many episodes that are considered lost, (in public at least.) I’m still on the lookout for more, but these episodes don’t grow on trees, but I have not stopped. Still, it is very nice to hear from someone who actually worked on the show. 🙂

@@ukvhsarchive9562 It is strange hearing the opening title music, as it was totally different to one I think most are more familiar with now in 2022. I think the current theme tune started in 1990.

I remember this one very well - unfortunately the video cuts off just as the announcer was explaining that the lady used the proceeds to buy her council house. Great stuff!

Watching these Antiques Roadshow UK episodes helps gives me as close to ideas as possible for two reasons: 1)Locations overall and 2)Some of the items from 1797-1817 helps me when I read Christian Inspirational Romance books that are based in some of these locations and describes items from these years. Such books from Lori Wick from her “English Garden” series, Carolyn Miller series “Regency Brides: A Legacy Of Grace”, and books by Kristi Ann Hunter “Hawthorne House” series and “Haven Manor” series, and “Hearts On The Heath” series. Seeing some of these locations plus some items mentioned in these books helps after trying to understand them, after my imagination did not come close. wado for putting these episodes on here for people to see.

Was looking everywhere for this episode. The lady with the teapot (Norah Ambrose) sold it for £14000 and put the money towards buying her house :)

Hi, Do you have the episode where they visit the Magnet Leisure Centre in Maidenhead? I think it was 1987 which would be Series 9 ?

I guess, these earlier series decided to go with Bach as theme music. Not being from the UK, and not have seen the earlier series, I do wonder when they started to use, what most of us recognize, as their theme tune?

Life sized images. In he early 80's I had a GF who was a fabric artist and who made life-sized figures, dressed in tuxedos, having various imposing animal heads. We went around the shops, looking for tuxedos and roller skates (her figures were always on roller skates). If you've encountered a lion-headed man-sized figure in a stairwell at 0300, you've got a sound heart, take it from an experienced lab rat..

I hope the gentleman with the book framed the remainder of the prints since the book was already torn.

The tea pot lady said she wouldn't sell, but I guess when she found out the price she started singing an altogether different tune!

I think you're being unfair - there's changing your tune and then there's being able to buy your council house. I'm sure she was genuinely sad to sell her teapot.

That teapot sold for 17,000 pounds at auction.

What would they have done if the "lady with the pot" at the end of the show had dropped dead from a heart attack? Not nice to tease people like that, If this was an American Roadshow this would have been rehearsed - with this one I doubt it!
@johnleach78795 жыл бұрын
Perhaps true about the American stuff, but thou has a twisted mind, according to the jury. Off with his head.

What sort of degree or qualifications does one require to do an expert financial, and/or value judgemental and/or forensic analysis of arts, crafts, sculptures and furniture? History of Arts? Or some other degree in Anthropology of Heritage which includes Culture and Preservation, etc?
