Kevin Zavian is a really nice guy. I met him in Omaha, while working the show, the second time AR came to Nebraska. We talked for a minute about the weather (ha), and a bit more about cars. I had a 1963.5 Ford Galaxie 500, and he started talking about some late 1950's Chrysler he had. He really made my day, for taking a few minutes to chat.

For nice dinners , theatre nights, special holidays. Yes, in the event of some family disaster they can be sold. That's how fine jewelry gets released back into the wild. But until then, do ax the widow would want; wear them in happiness.

yes i think gifts like that are so beautiful because they can be worn and enjoyed for many generations, but also sold for necessity if that time ever comes. maybe this woman's child or grandchild will come into hard times someday and will truly need the money that this would bring at auction, the value of which may increase even more someday. i think it's a gorgeous gift to pass down whether it's worn or sold.

I think that the older woman wanted those two pieces to go to someone who admired them and would wear them. To go to dinner once a month for years and years, that’s a special relationship. The new owner should wear them and cherish the memory of her friend.

May not be, it depends on the clarity of the diamonds. If they were top grade it would be worth millions. Obviously they are not, they have inclusions. Flawless diamonds are expensive, don't be fooled by the carat or size.

@@MysticglassYes, pearls and diamonds are both classics, you can't go wrong with either of them (and diamonds and pearls always look superb together!) It's just my personal taste as a jewellery fan and collector - I certainly feel the bracelet has a more universal appeal, is timeless in its style and would be more versatile in a woman's collection than the ring. The quality and provenance of the VCA ring is impeccable of course. But to my mind it is a fairly conventional design, dated to its era and certainly wouldn't look right for every occasion. The bracelet however is a stand out piece, unique, timeless and it would go with absolutely any other piece of jewellery you cared to wear with it, and with smart or casual attire. Imagine how fabulous that bracelet would look with blue jeans and a plain sweater. The design is perfection, it could not be improved upon, and that makes it a go anywhere, wear anytime piece. If I owned it I would never take it off! Lucky lady.
