You never need to apologise for your mood Dave!! ...as an aside, I just picked up a 1974 Guild S100 from PMT (been after one for ages after becoming obsessed with the S series 70's Guilds and liking the sound of the new reissues like yours!). Didn't cost much more than a reissue and is amaaaaazing. As are all vintage Guilds it seems. But, point is, it was meant to have been checked and set up by PMT, and even included a checklist suggesting it had.... if anyone at PMT did look at it then they certainly weren't technicians, probably not guitarists... possibly not even musicians.... or a member of staff 🤣

Every guitar sounds like DAVE! NO matter what guitar you play - it sounds DAVE. YOU give us ALL you got out of your sensy playing fingers!! Don't deliver all your soul to all of us strangers! Keep the deepest secret for yourself, and in your music. I know for myself-the deepest depth of my souk is way too deep and to dark for a common human being. It's deeper than deep for comprehensible... too deep... too dark.. way to dark...it's waters at 6000 meters deep... But I keep smiling . The musical enthusiast will recognize it, and wil know ... The almighty LORD will appreciate it.. and bless you with fortune. If I could touch the strings you've just been playing , I would be feeling like touching the essence of life . Touching GANDALF'S strings... the Master, the master of everything

Hi Dave I have a couple of their Teles and they are great , however I did buy a les paul from PMT also got it out of the box and went WOW how good is this to the point I rang Newcastle store to thank them and whilst on the phone raving about it I suddenly noticed a crack in the neck ! So straight back it went refund no prob. Its luck of the draw mate I am fortunate to be able to do what you did but not cracks ! Thanks

Brilliant Dave. I recently got an Ibanez Azes40. Out of the box set up was horrible. The nuts on the tuners were loose, Action too high, relief to flat. Like you I thought if I was a beginner I wouldn't stick with this, considering this is the target sales group you would have thought it more important to get it right for beginners. Cheers for all your mint channel content and good luck with your struggles and fighting your monsters.

I have the antiquity les paul. I had the same issues exactly especially the tuners, so I dropped £100 on a proper set up new strings and machine heads with my local tech and now my friends Mark ( lead guitarist Alabama.3) says it a very nice guitar and plays wonderfully. Antiquity are solid guitars but I'd say you do need to either know what your doing or budget for a professional set up.
@JDStone202 ай бұрын
I think I might pass on this guitar, and get the Harley Benton instead, I know how to get a Telecaster or a Stratocaster into working order with these issues, save recutting the nut, although if I did want to learn how to set up and fix a Gibson style guitar this sounds like it might me a good one to try out. Great video, Dave, once again! And best wishes, I hope you are feeling better, and I hope Queenie is feeling better also. All the best.

I love a good playing "SG"... I recently picked up an old Burny SG. Burnys might not be the most authentic SG type guitar, but all of the changes to the guitar, that deviate from the original Gibson design... just make it a better playing instrument. For one thing, I prefer the neck profile of the Burny. Frankly, the whole Burny approach to neck design, just makes it an easier guitar to play. Some people find SG's hard to tune...but I have not had that issue come up yet. On a personal note... I'm a BIG fan of the Les Paul guitar, but the weight of the Les Paul has opened me up to new options.... one of these options was (obviously) the SG. Honestly, I'm still bonding with this type of guitar... I have not really found my voice yet. I dont really get that same feel, that I experience with the Les Paul. But that is part of the journey. Thanks for makin stuff (music, words, video)

17:53 - thats exactly the same thing I said about my Jet JS300, as it was absolute garbage out of the box and definitely not for a beginner. However, happy to report that it's been modified and made to play quite nice and I'm bonding with it. In generla though, these ''budget'' guitars aren't for a beginner as they don't know how to sort these things out :)

I bought an antiquity LS1 les Paul copy. Wouldn’t stay in tune. Strings were awful and the headstock tuners were loose like yours. The nut was so badly cut you could barely tune it. But luckily I know how to put right the problems. But couldn’t agree more with what you said. Guitars aimed at beginners should be beginner friendly. Having said that after the adjustments it’s a fantastic guitar plays well I have no issues. The necks a little bigger than I like but apart from that it’s good 👍🏻

Despite your acute dislike for tinkering about, your pedalboard videos tell a different story. At times, you are near enthusiastic joy. If you hit another low spot, l’d figure out which you love more; tinkering or pedalboards. Then tape it. I say “if” because that’s how you should be thinking. “IF”. Try not to let “when” be a flag of resignation. Anyway, you are an Aerospacey Electronic Audio Engineer. The Sonic Sensei Sultan of Sound. The Pied Piper Prince of Pedals. The Wah-Wah Wizard of Ahs. The Veritable Viking Voice of Vox. I take notes, I do the occasional screenshot, and I read up on the pedals I like the most. Thanks for your generosity. Here’s a really bad dad-joke… Q: What do you call someone who beats on small bears? A: A Kuala Lumpur (koala lumper - sorry, had to make sure you got it).
