Two great musicians + a great song (by John Fogerty in case some of you don't know) = perfection.
@That_Stupid_Circle9 жыл бұрын
OHMYGOSH! The chemistry between these two is so beautiful. Their souls are genuinely connecting. They're feeling it. The little exchanges and giggles (I LOVE where Mavis starts to sing her line early on "you're not alone" and kind of makes the "whoops!" face and they chuckle). This is an amazing example of the healing and uniting power of music. A middle aged white guy who played druggie rock n roll and an elderly black lady who sang gospel wouldn't be a likely pairing for some, but music transcends social barriers and finds common love. Truly beautiful in every way.

LOL! At first read, I assumed that you meant the CCR record Green River. Shows how old I am!
@rtrepsas8 жыл бұрын
LOL! You are not old, because neither am I and I grew up with CCR and Green River. Also, you might have been misled because John Fogarty DID write and first record (with CCR?) "Wrote a Song For Everyone". I found out from searching the web that John said the line "And I couldn't even talk to you" was about his difficulty in balancing the weirdness of being a celebrity musician/songwriter with the difficulty of expressing feelings in his own marriage!
@PaulGoodeK8 жыл бұрын
Richard Trepsas Thanks for the kind words -- and from a Pats fan at that! Who'd a thunk it?! Green River is a terrific album -- I've been listening to it since . Your parents done right by you. BTW, fascinating back story to that one line. Thanks for taking the time to dig it up.
@rtrepsas8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Paul Goode, what is your (American) football affiliation, if any? Oddly, I never had any CCR album except probably a Greatest collection, if that, I always loved 'em. I just read this fan's review: rateyourmusic.com/release/album/creedence_clearwater_revival/green_river/reviews/9/ sounds like a MUST to add to my collection. Fave CCR moment: was in Madrid for a semester to study Spanish, August-December 1970...we Central North Americans frequented one of the popular discos then and we'd ALL hit the dance floor for CCR's incredible 13 (?) minute extended version of "Heard It Through The Grapevine" was played, which was every night I ever went there of dozens.
@PaulGoodeK8 жыл бұрын
That's a wonderful story -- CCR is genuinely infectious. A friend who spent time in Mexico told me about kitchen workers who learned the phonetics of Have You Ever Seen The Rain and would sing it at top of their lungs whenever it came on the radio. Re football, I bleed blue and green. BTW, I haven't lost a minute of sleep over the SB. The kid made a great play, and there's nothing to do but tip your hat to him. We'll get you next time!

this currently has 999 likes... and i want to like it! ... but should i?... i dont know if i deserve to be the thousandth liker. 999 feels lucky. or is 1000 better? also, 'like' is such a mild and nondescrptive word for the way i feel about this song. it actually made me feel something, you know? i hope you arent so dead inside usually that you were as surprised by that as me....

@canadianroot6 жыл бұрын
It's quite possible that they didn't like the song, or this version of it. Each to his/her own.
@scottbaxendale3236 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it’s because the song’s statement against bigotry rubs bigots the wrong way? We couldn’t even talk to those who hate.
@SolariusScorch6 жыл бұрын
I honestly find the voice a little jarring, like she was desperately gasping for air. I am not hating on the song or anything, but I can't honestly say I liked it. It made me a bit tired. (I didn't downvote it though, of course.)
