I felt this song from these two amazing artists down in my bones. I had to dance to it because I felt as if Jesus was singing through Mavis and Jeff's lyrics to me. He has said," I will never leave you nor forsake you." His promise has held me close for decades of loneliness and struggle. Thank you Mr.Tweedy for the words and tune, thank you Mavis for singing God's promise to all of the lonely ones listening.There are many of us that have been comforted by your gifts.

This song is amazing, I live in a very large multi city area. Life is hard and i see things personally and on the news happen around me. This song makes me sure theres hope.
@That_Stupid_Circle9 жыл бұрын
OHMYGOSH! The chemistry between these two is so beautiful. Their souls are genuinely connecting. They're feeling it. The little exchanges and giggles (I LOVE where Mavis starts to sing her line early on "you're not alone" and kind of makes the "whoops!" face and they chuckle). This is an amazing example of the healing and uniting power of music. A middle aged white guy who played druggie rock n roll and an elderly black lady who sang gospel wouldn't be a likely pairing for some, but music transcends social barriers and finds common love. Truly beautiful in every way.
@Where_Is_Luna7 жыл бұрын
Well, Mavis Staples did almost marry Bob Dylan and they dated for 7 years or so in the 60s! It's too bad they never did much collaborative stuff.
@TheMartinmaskin6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm feeling it too! Also i just noticed that she messes up the lyrics after the guitar part, right around 2:55. And you can see in her face when she realizes what she just said and they're both having a little laugh and it all becomes even more beautiful. It seems like it makes them relax even more. A really great performance with such simple means. Loooove it!

Have you ever listened to wilco? I wouldn't call them druggie rock n roll.
@zaneridings37892 жыл бұрын
@@evanbritton4859 I also thought this is an unfair label for Wilco, especially when you add in his ouevre from Uncle Tupelo too, I think he's got a strong emotional depth that "druggie rock and roll" diminishes.
@mcraft2240 Жыл бұрын
I love Wilco. He definitely had several songs about drugs. It’s well documented about his earlier issues.
