i'm so sorry that you're dying and i hope you're still around because there's an artist i hope you know of, Joanna Newsom... beautiful nature alike Marketa Irglova. her album Ys, every song is a odyssey, epic tale of love, death and paper doves. and i feel "Time, as a Symptom of Love" will sit with you strongly. just so you can know that there is yet another album, artist, song, to bring you some strength to such an adventitious juncture you are experiencing. i don't know you but my heart is with you somehow... hope this song is playing in your last days, and i hope it plays in my own too, Lilla.

Marketa named this album Anar. Anar backwards in czech is rana which means pain, hurt, shock, sudden change. she wrote this album after the sudden split with Glen Hansard which seems like it really effected her.

Marketa Irglova....Fantastic!!
@margiepeace0811 жыл бұрын
Anar means pomegranate in Persian as well. Marketa mentioned that she named it after a pomegranate because she kept seeing pomegranates and thought that it was a sign. She looked up pomegranates and read about how it was a symbol in many traditions and religions of feminity and fertility. She thought it was fitting for a record that she saw as embracing her feminity, and how it was a fertile song-writing time for her.

An absolutely beautiful track, Marketa. You are such a talented young lady. I loved you & Glen Hansard in the film Once, & the music tracks were amazing. I alway's wished that in the film, you & Glen had ended up together, happily ever after at the end? Thankyou very much for sharing your talent. Kind regards. Pete x

But that is interesting to know that Anar backwards in czech is rana and what rana means, so thank you for mentioning that! :) I wonder if that was intentional. I do think Glen is in this song in an abstract way, the person who she sings of "letting go" of. Yes, I can imagine it might have been hard for her to have split from him, since they both seem to love each other (as friends now); to split from someone you care about is probably always hard even if one thinks it's the right thing to do.

umm.negative. as a graduate in music business and a minor in music production. I can assure you she isnt. I love Marketa Also, but Alicia uses much more dynamics and emphasis to her lyrics. Marketa has her own unique style also which is why i enjoy her music as well. They are both great artists. I think comparing them is like comparing Kobe to Michael Jordan...Both are great in their own way, because they played two different styles of basketball..
