It's not even remotely true. Saw a documentary yesterday. The short answer is, really only white Jews have full rights there. If you're not Jewish or white, it's practically baked into near every law that your effed. They say Palestinians make up 20% of the country, but they're not allowed to live in 83% of it. Mixed marriages are all but banned or VERY difficult, because they're afraid Palestinians will use it to get back into the country or gradually start to grow in populations. It's really, really messed up.

Please read wikipedia Arab_citizens_of_Israel for more detail, and in summary: "The Israeli Declaration of Independence stated that the State of Israel would ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex, and guaranteed freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture. While formally equal according to Israeli law, a number of official sources acknowledge that Arab citizens of Israel experience discrimination" , which is NEARLY EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE US AND MOST COUNTRIES. It also contains a map showing that Arab Israelis live in EVERY locality in Israel. Israel has done plenty wrong, and please educate yourselves so you can make true and accurate criticisms rather than just contributing to misinformation. Palestinian Citizens aren't Israeli Citizens and aren't permitted to live inside Israel proper AT ALL (There is NO country that automatically gives all non-citizens all the rights of citizens NOT ONE SINGLE ONE). As Ben has said, Israel has made many offers for states. Netanyahu is a bastard, but Israel isn't the only side with bastards. There were many arab leaders that rejected any peace frameworks with Israel to pander to base nationalist instincts amongst their population while they robbed them blind with corruption and oppressed them. Yasser Arafat was a committed militant who rejected peace when Israel had leaders making very generous offers. The current leader Mahmoud Abbas is referred to by international observers as a "moderate": he literally has a PhD in denying the holocaust. His doctoral thesis is about how actually fewer than 1 million Jews died in the holocaust and actually the zionists themselves worked with the nazis collaboratively to commit the holocaust.

The 1937 Peel Commission required the proposed that the Jewish state would pay compensation to the Arab State, and would prescribe the development of irrigation and other infrastructure in the Arab land, modeled after solutions to Hindu/Muslim tensions that had been employed in India. The 1947 UN Partition Plan would have had all jews and arabs stay on their land and live as neighbors as citizens of whichever state they fell under. Zero stealing. Zero arabs had any land stolen by zionists until Israel's independence war, at which point it was a high intensity war between the communities. Israel still should pay compensation for all that land, but the Arabs have empowered Israel to evade that just compensation because they refuse to come to any final settlement with Israel. Israel can't pay compensation to people who arent willing to take (any amount of) compensation as a final settlement of their dispute. Otherwise it would just be handing out money for nothing.

Of course it is important to have compassion for all people. At the same time, it is very important to get your facts straight. Ben was completely wrong in several important respects. 1. He seemed to be implying that Jewish people or Israelis don't call for Palestinians to be killed. Well that is absolutely not true. It may be a minority, but it is also a minority of the peace protesters who are calling for the end of Israel. Either we are able to comment on minority views or we are not. 2. It is a manifest fraud to say that Arabs have equal rights within the 1967 borders. The 2018 Basic Law is a good place to start. 3. This one is more of a lie of omission, but obviously the Jewish homeland used to be someone else's homeland. I don't hear Ben acknowledging that. In fact, in other videos, he has simply justified the taking of land by conquest. He should reflect that the same logic justifies the actions of Hamas.

So I agree with Cenk here 100% and only partially agree with Ben. He puts zero accountability on the Israeli people and government (notice, I said Israeli and not Jewish, there is a distinction). For instance while saying that no Israelis are chanting about Palestinians needing to die, or committing acts of violence, we see that’s not true in the treatment of Palestinian families living in the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority (not Hamas) and the brutal actions being taken against them and their property. Ben can say that ethnic cleansing is a loaded phrase, and it is. That doesn’t mean it’s not happening though. I’ve never cared at all or given a thought (with the exception of trying to understand the historical context of antisemitism) as to whether someone was Jewish or not. For me it’s a nonissue. Now I can’t say the same for the atrocities being committed by the Israelis in response to the atrocities committed by Hamas. Equating anti-Israeli sentiment with antisemitism does a disservice to all of those Jewish voices who are against this violence. Oh and another thing Ben, why is the Israeli government imprisoning people who express solidarity with Palestinians? Why are they silencing anti-apartheid voices? Doesn’t sound like something a country on the right side of history would do. If you don’t allow for discontent in public discourse then you live in a tyranny. You talk about Palestinians living at peace and having full equality in Israel, but how can that be if they will be imprisoned for expressing opinions against the right wing Israeli party line?

I was at a pro-Palestinian protest the other day and it’s disheartening to imagine that some folks in there would have an antisemite stand. That’s not what I stand for. Antisemitism is flat out wrong and like Cenk said it doesn’t help the Palestinian cause either. But just as it’s important to show this aspect and condemn it, TYT should also make a piece on the disgusting TikTok videos that some Israelis are putting out there taunting and making fun of Palestinian suffering.
