Antisemitism has been called “the longest hatred.” This program will trace its existence across more than two millennia, considering such issues as: which accusations, myths and stereotypes regarding the Jewish people have presented the greatest danger?; what appears to moderate or to exacerbate antisemitism?; and as we face yet another surge in prejudice, what strategies may serve to combat it?
Paul Kopperman, a Professor Emeritus of History at OSU, will be providing the lectures. Paul has been a member of Beit Am since shortly after he arrived in Corvallis in the fall of 1978. In 1982, he introduced “The Holocaust in Its History” (History 425), a baccalaureate-core course that placed the Holocaust into the broad history of antisemitism.
