Molto interessante la scelta dei materiali , l'esecuzione e la cura dei particolari. Mi piace molto il manico che termina con quell'ingrossamento naturale come per evitare che il coltello scivoli dalla mano.Complimenti

@TheHiddenHomestead
@TheHiddenHomestead 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t have exact measurements but it’s pretty easy. Here’s what I did. Disclaimer: always ware your PPE and use proper safety precautions when dealing with acid. Ok. Take a quart jar and fill it about 3/4 full with ferric chloride. Then drop about 8-10 pennies in. Once the pennies have dissolved (roughly 24 hours) fill the jar the rest of the way with water. Distilled water is best. Then dunk the blade in. Keep an eye on it. You dilute the solution because your not trying to do a complete etch on the blade. The dissolved copper particles in the solution will actually attach themselves to the clean metal surface. And that’s it. If it didn’t get as much copper patina as you wanted you can either keep it in a little longer or add a few more Pennie’s to the solution.

Yo, Great looking knife, Loved the JB weld usage. Did you find that as you shaped the bolster, did you see any movement due to the heat effects on the JB weld? I have used Ferric chloride many times working with Damascus, but how many pennies did it take to get the copper look with it? Also, what is the name of that music your playing in the video It starts at 2 minutes in? Oh and you may want to label that Ferric Chloride! It may be confused with shine :)
@TheHiddenHomestead
@TheHiddenHomestead 5 жыл бұрын
MEDIC MIKE actually to be honest I wasn’t able to get it on video but the JB weld did fail so I went back and used clear gorilla glue. I won’t be using JB again because of that reason you mentioned. Lesson learned. I used about 15-20 pennies in that one jar. And the music came from here on KZbin. Id have to look up the name for which one i used if you’re interested.
