Just wanna point out that you COULD have caught some hidden Pokemons after defeatings Groudon, you talk to professor Birch and unlock the National Dex, for example Eevee is avaliable on Route 116 and you can evolve it into Sylveon, Route 115 and Meteor Falls has Clefairy, but you got Jigglypuff on Route 115, so only Meteor, Petalburg Woods has Cottonee, Route 113 has Klefki and the old woman from Lavaridge Town (Flannery Gym) can give you a Togepi Egg after you unlock the National Dex, so at least the last few battles might have been easier, Victory Road, Elite Four and Champion with these options.

I think you should do what I like to call a “type link” nuzlock! Basically you can have just about any Pokémon you want with the caveat that it’s first typing must be the same as the second typing of the last Pokémon you caught’s final evolution! Like for example, let’s say you picked the fire starter chances are it’s last evolution is gonna be fire, fighting so the next Pokémon you can catch its first typing has to be fighting!

To answer your question about the May fight and the AI, yes. The AI is programmed to prioritize status moves/moves that boost its own stats over simple damaging moves if it sees the opportunity to take advantage. Much like how it will focus on super effective moves more than non if it has that option. My guess is the AI saw Ralts was slowed due to being paralyzed, so it did not prioritize using Flame Charge to boost its speed, so instead just uses moves at random. I think there was still some luck in that it didn't use Flame Charge randomly, but overall the paralysis was unwittingly a 500IQ play on your part.

@2:25 I checked the iv's on this Ralts, mostly cause it was modest and I wanted to see how good it actually is, and holy shit. Granted idk the ev's of this mon, probably has some ev's in spatk and potentially speed if he can find those early game, but every iv is 25-31 at least, with some showing 28-31. Which means this Ralts is almost perfect. I haven't seen the rest of the video, but if they don't win off of this Ralts, the challenge is gonna be so much harder than I ever expected.

I did a similar version of this challenge (although mine wasn't a nuzlocke just because I don't play Pokémon that way) by using Fairy types in Omega Ruby. Rough early game, but the later on they really start to pick up. Although, to be honest, I did give myself a full team by allowing Mega Altaria and Eevee with the National Pokédex.

After you've done the Primal Groudon event, you could have gone back to littleroot town to get the national dex, which would have allowed you to catch Klefki, Eevee and Clefairy with the DevNax. Not that you needed them, but they could have been useful
