I was starting to drift away from Antoine, but this ridiculously cool song has brought my attention straight back! Its such a privilege to able to watch him develop as an artist and to hear his music evolve. What a guitarist.

A most p-o-w-e-r-f-u-l performance. ONE OF THE MOST fantastical this Master has done. As I closed my eyes to listen the first time without watching the artist--my chest + body vibrating with the resonance coming forth from this Work of "Inspirations," appropriately titled. In total Awe. To my Angel that shares these melodious gems; My Heart shouting THANKS to you over and over. 'I carry this in my Heart as I face my challenge Monday, Sept.13. :-) This will bring instant healing.

@GetnFunky15 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, the triplet sounds he's making before slapping on the harmonic. He is slapping around the low E string with his middle finger, fallowed by his index.. the third beat of that is a hammer-on with his left hand. This is done very fast! xD Hope it helps.
@EvilCracky17 жыл бұрын

@CLASSICBOB420014 жыл бұрын
@bmxtra211 you have to accurately strike 12, 7, or 5 frets above the fret you are using. If its an open string slap 12. if you have the 5th fret barred hit 17th....so on and so on.

@commandercody0115 жыл бұрын
i'm playing rylynn by andy mckee for my recital, and also learned dufour's tune spiritual groove - the technique is to slap the fretboard with your finger, but so fast that it hits the strings as if it were an artificial harmonic. sit there for about an hour and keep slapping the fretboard - thats how i learned it
@Grimblenork4 жыл бұрын
so how was the recital

well, CGCFA#D is the same with DADGCE as far as how the strings are tuned to each other. Antoine uses the first one on the album version and the 2nd on this video. they are the same thing, CGCFA#D is just a whole step lower.
@HungarianGuitarist17 жыл бұрын
amazing
@connormallory14 жыл бұрын
@bmxtra211 its just something that comes with practice... cause ur supposed to flick ur wrist at the right spot to hit the strings, but not touch the fret board

full length videos for candyrat artists *e.g. Antoine Dufour, Andy Mckee* with videos in this studio for songs in each album were available just around the time the videos appeared on youtube *last year november-ish*. I used to have the full art of motion vid *with all the songs back to back in one whole vid* but I seem to have lost it :(.

SOMETHING EVERYONE SHOULD TRY!!! put this song on your ipod. get expensive sound canceling headphones. listen to it everywhere you walk. you subconsciously feel like a total bad ass >:D
@EtherTrace15 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about what i think you are, then I believe he's tapping the (open) string twice very quickly to add a triplet beat.
@Rael050514 жыл бұрын
@connormallory - you DO have to hit the fretboard actually. Directly on the metal fret. Just hitting the strings won't do anything! I have no idea how Antoine is able to do slap harmonics with his index finger... I can only get them to ring out when I use my middle finger like Andy does.
@Tuloisboss14 жыл бұрын
@zabman23 Yes but I don't think he use baritone guitar. On the album he use CGCFA#D Thare is one tone up, so DADGCE.
@JonnyCrash17 жыл бұрын
Actually, the tuning is about a tone lower, but he's playing it with his higher-tuned guitar, and he doesn't tune this guitar as low as the regular tune for this song.
@drdread17 жыл бұрын
very interested! :D
@grayzbeardz14 жыл бұрын
@bmxtra211 make sure you slap it right at the fret, not in between, and make sure you're hitting the right fret-i mess this up when i'm playing chords and the harmonic isn't at the 12 or 7

holy shit.!!!

heart of the matter aint really a technical song. it was the first one i learnt off his new album and i did it all by ear. when you listen to songs like reality and hiding place for the moon. then it gets technical
@Rickardius15 жыл бұрын
2:00 is awesome.
@Rael050514 жыл бұрын
@ox0Jason0xo ooh! Hostile? I'm just saying I'm used to practicing the way Andy does by hitting them with my middle finger instead of my index finger. I figure it doesn't make a difference because you get the same sound either way, I just find I get more power with my middle finger. and I was still right in correcting connormallory about hitting the fretboard. Thanks for being so friendly ;)

the easiest way to find harmonics is to just put your finger on one of the strings(without pressing it to the fretboard) and go up the string while strumming it till you here the harmonics clearly.

nothing against Gorthon but that ending is just hammer ons and pull offs. honestly what i find difficult is syncopation between either 2 strings or 2 fingers just cause it's completely different tempos...its not about how fancy or fast something looks but how much you have to think in order to play it
@og_jakey16 жыл бұрын
OKay , ty for the reply but , when i put my fingers near the string or just bearly touching it , it doesnt make a sound at all :S
