Filz was a brilliant young musical genius, born in Eichstatt Germany and passing away at the young age of only 26 years. His music is quite astonishing in respect of this, he produced about 34 symphonies and 30 concertos. He was part of the Mannheim School, playing the Cello in the Mannheim Orchestra, which is clearly reflected in his wonderful compositions.

I love how Anton Fils put some Sturm und Drang influences on this piece, even if the key is major and not minor! It makes this piece powerful and stormy, yet also lively and happy at the same time!

Bavarian TV uses this tune as an opener for the programme "Unser Land". In Bavaria everybody has heard this tune, but hardly anybody knows the title or composer.
