Muito boa música mas os finais deixam um bocado a desejar, podiam ser mais pujantes com sons graves mais prolongados.

Heard enough to make me buy the complete symphonies CD. Very nice work, Mr Glass. Thanks for advertising his work on KZbin.

I had never heard about this composer. His work deserves to become more known. This is a lovely concerto, akin to Mozart. Thank you for bringing me these happy moments.🤗

Magnifique ! J'écoutais ça quand j'avais treize ans, une découverte, et je me laissais aller dessus ... Je trouve ça assez wagnerien ! Pas vous ? 🤗

One of the greatest gifts that youtube bestows is the opportunity to hear music and 'meet' composers that would otherwise go unheard and unknown. My deepest thanks, as always.

an underrated Polish composer. He was a friend of F. Chopin. It's immediately clear how valuable it is to have such a talented acquaintance because it elevates the music.

Efectivamente, es un concierto romántico. Que lástima que es poco conocido. No es común en literatura de los conciertos para piano y orquesta. ¡Gracias! por compartir este excelente audio. Saludos desde México.

All the best symphonies were written between 1880 and 1920!

First time i listened to this in decades In some ways I can understand Stenhammar rejecting this symphony as the outer movements are at times a bit too both ponderous and Brucknerian, despite some lovely music. The inner movements have a quite different character - the 2nd has a number of beautiful moments although I (unlike another commentator) find the fugato for instance rather prosaic. For me, the crowning glory of this work is the instantly memorable scherzo and here, unlike in the more generally highly regarded and individual second symphony, this movement is at least on a par and strikes me as having an affinity to Dvorak. Overall, I enjoyed re-acquainting myself with this symphony which deserves the odd outing in the concert hall. Of course there is not a single Swedish symphony in the international repertoire which is pretty scandalous -- from this period, Stenhammar and Alfven's 2nd should certainly be there just for starters.

Does anyone know symphonies similar to this one? I only know Melartin's and Atterberg's works.

I shall admit that Franz Berwald is the best composer ever searched by me between the panoply of relegated ancient music from the past. His style, their melodies and his natural cadence should put him into the glorious podium of musicians who they deserve better qualifications.

Very obviously he had his own symphonic style, which is quite advanced for the time. Nothing like Mendelssohn or Schumann, certainly foretells Sibelius and even smatterings of Bruckner. Fascinating. This certainly should be placed as an important romantic symphony..
