This is what happens when you have someone from a marriage, in the situation, successful at it, talking to single people hypothesizing about what they ain't gonna do. It amazes me how stubborn our people are. You have to listen to people doing it. Marriage "ain't" what you think it is, not a successful one anyway. This is what a marriage is 100/100, this is what my 20yrs with my wife has taught me. Y'all not ready

I agree. Been with my wife almost 10 years. I’m the breadwinner, she works, our household sees over $200k a year, I lead my household, she cooks, cleans, children, I cut grass, take care of the vehicles, but our day to day “duties” aren’t set in stone. We hold eachother down and get the job done. I figured that’s what all married couples do. The people on the panel that didn’t agree aren’t married, let alone SUCCESSFUL in marriage.

Took the thought right out of my head! All these videos, panels, and podcasts got a lot of single people thinking they're dating/marriage experts. They all look and sound crazy with all their hypotheticals and relationships failures trying to pass it off as them knowing what they're talking about. I've been married for 15yrs, and have 2 kids. The 50/50 talk is BS and only had by people who arent married. Anton (and Keri) are right, my wife i do 100/100! We both work, and have a joint account where the majority of our money is deposited in to pay bills. We each have separate accounts where a set amount of our check goes into, thats our spending money that we can do whatever we want with. We both take care of the household and kids. We take turns cooking when needed. We both clean, the wife will take out the trash when needed! Folks on social media are tiring!

This is how you can tell who is a relationship bench warmer and who is a relationship All-star. In a marriage, the work is all in one pot. The people in the marriage gravitate to what they are better suited at and then everything else is just filling in the gaps. B Taylor and Logic are looking at it like the roles are set and that bringing in money means you don't have to do anything else. They're also looking at it from the perspective that men who make a lot of money don't do anything else for their families outside of the corporate world. This is the furthest from the truth for active, successful relationships.

I believe this "keeping tabs" issue is a by-product of single-parent and toxic parent homes. What do these parents tend to say when the child is challenging their perspective? "I pay the bills on this house." "As long you're in my house, you're gonna do what I tell you." "You wanna make decisions in this house? Then start paying some bills." Rhetoric like this creates the mindset that you can only have a say if you contribute financially to the household or that the one who carries the most financial burden has the final say.

These conversations prove why most of our women are unmarried. To many women are trying to barter and trade with what comes with being married. When most of our women speak of marriage it's like they're talking about being a slave to a man who is doing absolutely nothing. Most black men work just like women. If you have a man making 50k and a woman making 50k both can survive and pay their own bills. The purpose of marriage is to come together and build. Ladies if cooking and cleaning is that much of a labor after working, why not take the money you make and invest in a nanny, maid, or chef??? These things are very affordable with 2 ppl working making 50k. To many of our women think marriage is just for them to kick their feet up and not contribute to the house. A man gets no honor in the title of husband in 2023 , but she's supposed to get everything. That's a no go everytime 🤷🏾‍♂️

so do kids not have chores? Because from what I'm hearing is the responsibility of the upkeep of the house is either on the mother or the father that is contributing less.

I think the convos are very important, but the problem is, we always have ppl on the panel that have to advocate and borderline promote some of our community 's worst traits. It's unfortunate that when talking about what's healthy and productive in terms of relationships, you'll still find some who will argue with the ones who are in actual healthy and functioning relationships.

What a lot of these men on the this platform are failing to acknowledge is that they are just outsiders looking in. I was raised in Africa by a working mother who had maids and extended family supporting her. The maids did all the cleaning (except for my parents room), cooking and all my mother had to do was plate up my dad's food. It's easier for women from cultures outside of the US to cater to their men because they have villages and support systems.

Anton man, thank you for all that you’ve just said. No disrespect brother, most of the people on panel, both men and women don’t have a clue what a marriage is supposed. Their idea of marriage is a partnership and not a union, becoming one, the “us” part of it. Thank god my wife is nothing like this!!

My neighbor works 10 plus hour days with Friday being his half days. On Friday as soon as he get home...his wife leaves for the rest of the day. I used to think she was running errands but nope...just her day out. He then told me she has a Lady Night out for about 3hrs each Wednesday. So i asked him when was his "day out" and he just laughed and shrugged. He said she purposely waits until Saturday to go grocery shopping and etc. He'd be out there doing yard work with one eye on a 3yr old while the 1yr is strapped to his back in a carrier as he uses an electric push mower to cut his yard. Basically summarized it by saying "this is just what i have to do for now to protect my wife bc she is experiencing Post-partum Deppression. Yeah it sucks for me bc I get worn thin but i can handle it better than her. I just want her to mentally return to herself and not be of harm to the kids or herself".

Ive always made more money than my late husband and all our money went into the same pot. We had our defined rolls. He worked Ups.long hours, i worked corporate. I took care of the house and kids (he did do laundry) and he took care of house maintenance and everything else to do with the house. I was fortunate that i never had to pick up after him, etc. He was more of a clean freek than me. He retired 5 years before he died and he stated to do stuff and i only cooked. You have to define your roles and not how much the woman make. All the money in our house was our money

It's crazy that they can do everything single, but nothing together. How much you make shouldn't dictate your participation in the relationship or the home. In my previous marriage, I was the primary provider, cooked almost daily, mainly reared the kids, and did all the yard work. Cause I understood it was all on her when I was away for business.

I agree but only to an extent. If you set boundaries, you dont have to deal with that person for the rest of your life unless you want to. When your kids get into their teens and especially grown, there is no reason to speak to the other parent. My daughter is 15 and her mom and I are both remarried. Her mom and I literally only text if we need to communicate. The only time I've seen her mom was at one of her softball games and it was hi and bye sat on opposite ends. I think people still deal with the other emotionally and it doesnt have to be that way. Especially when the kids grown you can deal directly with the kid.

BTaylor TV, around 8:17, is talking under the assumption the man has no job at all or is a house husband. A man affording to pay only a few bills is likely going to a job (a low paying one) for a number of hours a day just like the woman. What Anton is saying is that the women in Asian countries maintain traditional female roles regardless of the income they or their men bring home. Mostly in the West we associate higher income with masculinity even if the female is the higher earner. This shows our Western selfishness, childishness, and how conditional our version of unconditional love really is.

What KeriESpencor is talking about is the exact same thing I've saw my parents do things growing up. Was there gender roles in my parent's marriage? Yes. But the roles was not super rigid to the point that a man would never do dishes or clean. Both worked. One would make more money at one point and the other person would make more money at another point. My mom would work long hours sometimes and still come home and cook. If her hours were too long then my dad would cook but majority of the time she's cooking regardless of if she worked that day or not. He did the majority of the yard work. Every one in a while she'd come out to give him a hand but the majority was done by him. The amount of gender roles they did was not based on how much one person made over the other or who worked harder than the other... it was based on traditional roles of a husband and a wife and they would fill in the gaps of the other person when needed. Let's be 100% honest... if you're single you're already doing BOTH ROLES TO SOME EXTENT. If a wife don't want to do wifely duties because she's making more money (like BTaylor basically said) then that's an easy fix: You will no longer be a wife. That man will do it all himself or find a woman who is more willing. The moment you let your paycheck dictate the roles you're playing at home is the moment you lose. And I wouldn't be surprised if she's the type to find a guy that makes more but attempt to make more money herself to try to justify offloading wifely duties into him. At that point you're in competition, not in union, with your spouse.
