Hips lead the hand and wait until heal Strike then released you can't think hands at any point before hips start rotating. The longer you wait and keep your hands close to the body and back the greater the centrifugal force, but you can't be thinking about that. Hips lead the hand and see the ball...

I had an epiphany the other day when explaining this to my younger kid. Everyone can do this on the sagittal plane, if you do a broad jump you do the same stuff: pull back, load, fire the lower body and whip the upper. It is harder on the transverse plane because we aren't built to move in that plane. However if you get kids thinking about how they do a broad jump they will understand the concepts. Thanks so much for your videos matt, would be half the dad (to my kids) coach (to my middle school team) I am without them.
