⚠️⚠️⚠️ - Hey Matt, we all love your channel because you have a great personality, you're humble, down to earth, explain everything about baseball in a clear, concise manner, and you're full of absolutely incredible talent. Moreover, you're a family man with a wonderful family, and are EXTREMELY HONEST. I'm now 66, a veteran, and was at Bedford, MA , VA hospital for quite some time. I used to leave more comments while there. Am thrilled to see your channel, with ever growing subscribers !! That, of itself proves that you're sharing excellent material. I was, and am, still an avid baseball fan, whether it's T-ball, Little League, Babe Ruth League, high school, collegiate level, the minor leagues, or, and especially, the Major Leagues. I have lived in the beautiful State of Vermont for the last 24 years. However, I was born and raised in central New Jersey, two miles from the ocean. I grew up in the era of John Candalaria, Al Leiter, etc. Large population base, hence extremely talented athletes in all the major sports. One question, however. In your introduction to every video segment, at one point, you hold your hand up to your mouth, appearing to chew on an unidentified object. Would you please explain this for all your viewers ? I understand you love this amazingly intricate, special pastime. You. are blessed with a baseball purists mind. I seriously recommend a book by the late, great, phenomenal baseball mind of Joseph Leonard Morgan, multiple All Star, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove winner, and most importantly, a Hall of Famer, with longtime partner of ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball, with the great booming voice of Jon Miller. Joe Morgan has written a few books about baseball. At only 5'7", Little Joe hit for power, average, and swiped, if I remember correctly, and astounding 689 bases. " A Life in Baseball, ", was penned by Joe and David Falkner, in 1993, via W.W. Norton Company, NYC. It's 301 pages by one of the greatest baseball minds ever. Please read this gem of a book !! You'll be pleasantly surprised and amazed. My mom and dad, and two brothers used to drive up to Shea Stadium, in Queens, NYC, to watch the Big Red Machine of the Cincinnati Reds, back when all teams had scheduled doubleheader. In the 1970's, tickets were unbelievably affordable, it was permissable to bring large coolers into Shea. I almost cried when Shea Stadium was torn down. Anyway, thanks for all you do Matt. God bless you and your family. P.S. - May I also recommend another stellar baseball book ? " Tom Seaver, A Terrific Life ", published in 2020, by Simon and Shuster. Keep doing what you're doing, as you are a great ambassador for baseball, at any level !! Oh yes Matt - you should write a book about baseball, your family, etc., I'm sure it would be a valued, treasured book and quite possibly, a best seller. Sincerely, Jeffrey.

Not the best outings for Maddux or Scully in their long careers. Maddux gives up a base hit on a rookie's first at bat, later slides very haphazardly into 2nd base nearly taking him out. Scully with the overly harsh description of the play off that blooper.

You have to understand something. The Dodgers infield during the 1980's set the record for errors, they were absolutely horrible, and Vin Scully had to go through all of that with the Dodgers. it all started in 1983 when Steve Sax had a phobia, that he had to throw a normal hit grounder in to the 25th row behind 1st Base. He sent 40 something into the stands, so i am guessing he's still getting over the shell shock of that time, even though it was 20 some years earlier.

I played high school ball, and am still good friends, with Jason Repko (#17 on the Dodgers) who had been called up this season as well by the Dodgers. It was funny to see him come into frame at the end of the game as the Dodgers are lining up to shake hands coming off the field. He went on to play parts of 7 seasons for the Dodgers, Twins, and Red Sox before playing a couple of years of independent ball and retiring. Pretty cool to see him in your big league debut.

Hey Matt, I know this is now kind of an old video that you put up here a few months ago so I don't know if you will see this, but I stumbled on to your channel and I have been literally binge watching all of your videos now for the past week. Just cannot get enough of all the cool, inside information and insights that you have and are so willing to share with us normal baseball fans. As a kid, baseball was my game, and I was pretty good but certainly not big league material...but I would have given anything to suit up and play in even just one major league game. So, after watching a bunch of your stuff, I had to search out the "major league debut" video. This is so awesome. You seem like such a great guy and since I did not know the outcome of this particular game, I was sitting here watching this and found myself pulling for you with every at bat...haha. I'm like "come on Matt, you got this...drill this guy's fastball right back through the mound". So awesome. The Vin Scully commentary on that play was totally unwarranted, but I guess it was a slow day for Vin so he needed to latch on to some kind of a story, even if it wasn't really a story. But, in the end, it's freaking Vin Scully saying your name a lot in a baseball game and there are worse things in life. Keep up the great work, Matt. I know that guys like me really appreciate that look behind the curtain that you are giving to all of us.

Nice Matt. I have given you shit in the past..mostly that pop up where Vin says it is embarrassing. The feeling to getting a hit off of Maddux must be so exciting. Good for you and props for making it to the bigs. I played with some high level college players and A and AA players in my over 30 league...I also played against some major league players, (World Series winners from the Blue Jays in the 80's and from the '69 Mets). Anyhow....I have played with players that never sniffed the show and they are SOOOOOO GOOOOOD. Just making a big league roster show how good you are. Bravo Matt A.

Hey at least you got a hit on your very first major league at bat, and it was off one of the greatest pitcher's of all time in my opinion.

Those dunkers are always the toughest to adjust to as a rookie infielder. I know from experience. You gave it one hell of a try 👍.

World Series wins in 1908 and 2008 would have been a nice symmetry for the Cubbies.

We went to many LE Storm games, when we lived in the area! It was great to see you, Wade, Will and Nick get to the show!! I grew up a Dodger fan, I won't go to that stadium anymore. Did you get to hang out with Jerry "The Colonel" Coleman

VERY cool watching your videos. Watched a ton over the couple of years. My girlfriend's cousin got one of the 2 October spots from AAA end of 2019 season Kind of cool hearing you expalin some of the stuff between minors and majors. Erick is so freaking busy between minor leagues, dominican winter league, spring training, etc. he is not home much.
