Harper has so much torque and violence in his swing!
@BryanW.3 жыл бұрын
I was assigned to watch over him in 09-10 while he was at CSN. Great kid. I used to tell him if I was still pitching I’d knock him down twice than bust him away. He laughed. I can’t imagine the pressure he felt. It was cool being there to see the filming of the ESPN special, his first JUCO dinger and his success. He and his family were very humble. Glad I got to be a part of that time in his journey. Have the ball he signed for me in a safe place. Great breakdown Matt!

I LOVE the way he wraps the bat. It's danged near pointing right at the Pitcher! Similar to Donaldson. Creating "stretch" in a swing to me, is very similar in the swings of great Golfers that had 'club lag' like Ben Hogan.

Is there a good cue for players that lay the barrel back vs turning it?

I have been watching you diligently. Thank you for your dedication and hard work towards this channel. You have been an inspiration to my 12 year old daughter. You have helped her tremendously. Can you help me take her swing analysis to the next level and tell what slow motion technology are you using? Thank you and God Bless.

Fwiw, I know that the “knob to the ball” vs “knob up/Elite swing path” debate is very hot; I think it’s interesting though, how your analysis of Juan Soto’s knob up (almost a level) swing path, compared to Harper’s swing path shows that a hitter can be successful with each method. At least from what I can tell between your two videos, Harp has much more of a knob to ball path, compared to Soto’s. It sort of reminds me of the old school two spaces after a period compared to the more modern one space after a period debate.

HUGE bounce back year for Harper this year!! One of the best at creating ample energy and transferring it into the baseball!!

Well he’s really been very good his entire career but last year was better

@@phillieshotstovemedia6759 he went from lindor offensively (who is a defense first player) into somebody who was more mike trout like offensively. That’s a vast improvement. And being like lindor offensively as a corner outfielder is far from “great”.

Actually his swing was far more violent before this year imo. This almost appears to be a spread out 2 strike approach 2.0 - it’s still very explosive, but tight. You can even see his back leg/knee exploding forward with his bat path. But again, very compact. Great video.
@phillieshotstovemedia67593 жыл бұрын
Yeah the 2015 stance was probably more violent
@evanmendoza61163 жыл бұрын
His old swing was just pure violence, little control. The past 2 or 3 years I’d say he’s really toned down his leg kick and his load, and looks a little more controlled while still maintaining that explosiveness
@mikeodil77213 жыл бұрын
@@evanmendoza6116 I completely agree. I think cutting down on all that extra movement will serve him well in the years to come.

You forgot the part where he whines and cries at the umpire any time he strikes out, since it's never his fault.

Considering he gets a lot of bad calls it’s understandable, also who cares, he’s good at baseball
