16:38 intresting, Tony's bike does not have the odd standard KTM throttle cable routing. Does MXA know why KTM routes their calble infront of the handlbar on the stock bikes?
@JohnHowerton1372 жыл бұрын
Seems to maybe be rider/mechanic preference or something. Herlings does it too. Probably a +3” cable. Often in front of the bar and through the same side fork. AC222’s bike seems to be on the other side. It’s not a new thing. Some of factory bikes are stock routing. Seems no obvious rhyme or reason. I’ve seen it 4 different ways. Def interesting and I’d love to know too 🤣
@JohnHowerton1372 жыл бұрын
The stock behind routing is (allegedly) from KTM’s woods heritage/success. Less likely to get snagged hiding behind the bars. One of the very smart, simple engineering thoughts into an Austrian bike. And on the older bikes where it is behind and down the left side, the cable is very straight all the way to the carb. I spent like 4 hours one day routing my 250F cables tons of different ways to find the least friction. It’s crazy how much little things can change it. It also may have to do with bar height and Nihilo throttle they run 🤷🏼♂️

Suspension looked good, stiffness was probably the 52mm fork chassis. Grant Langston spoke about preferring the 48mm Ohlins forks a few years back due to flex and feel.

You seem to forget one thing. You set your bike up to be enjoyable to ride for you, and even comfortable sometimes, top pro riders don’t even think about those things, Stewart explained it very well, the stiffer the faster, then the athletes adapt to what is the fastest version of the bike, the bike don’t have to adapt, it only has to be the fastest possible.

The exhaust looks really cool. Was hoping to hear how fast the bike is. Was it stronger everywhere in the power band compared to stock? How was the gearing, etc... Assuming he can get that bike up to higher speeds than any normal guy rides. Awesome video - thanks MXA!
@joshmosiman19552 жыл бұрын
Yes faster everywhere in the power when compared to stock! Unfortunately we didn't get to take it to a dyno or get dyno numbers from KTM, they keep that stuff to themselves. 14x51 gearing with a custom 2nd and 3rd gear in the tranny to pull longer

I think the only thing at this point bike manufacturers can do is build an electric motorcycle solely focused on unsprung weight. Bikes Are pretty much at their peak of suspension and handling. If someone is able to cram an electric engine into a hub and put the battery in the swingarm you could now make a motorcycle with similar frames to a downhill mountain bike. All the weight of the engine and battery would be almost ground level and unsprung. You could literally probably shave like 16 pds off the bike. Also I always thought with electric engines you could put an oscillator in the front wheel as well that can be turned on while cornering. Imagine a saw that vibrates to help it cut. The same principal could be applied to a front wheel and literally vibrate the wheel deeper into the ground. If magnetic suspension can be used to think of the applications for things like unloading and preloading. You could literally have a button to bottom out the suspension for scrubs or electronic rebounds for super big seat bounces.

ik herlings is younger and was in his prime at the time when he came over but he adapted pretty quickly and easily and i member him saying the bikes r faster here cause of fuel or sound testing or something i believe

@@joshmosiman1955 maybe take the taller bars forward. ? this could pull your balance a bit forward ad ad more weigth on the front in that way i think the suspesion balance front and rear should be better. :) and better turning.
