i knew the Bach organ version of this piece for years but hearing this version brings me joy as well hearing Vivaldi's original interpretation vs Bach's interpretation, both geniuses in their own ways but man I love Vivaldi's work

The rhythmic patterns to analyze in that first movement is insane. I am inspired to make a video on it.

I have been breathing so many years through this and other Vivaldi's violin concerto adapted to organ playing. I have found it so chalenging from emotional through inteligence and even spiritual levels so many times that I felt mesmerized to even be able to hear it enjoy while finding it beauty and perfection an creation every once more listening to it. It would never allow me that I have grasped everything about it and it would make wonder even more. As to how it arrange my spirit it were as through a sort of a meditation about beauty that would ennoble the feelings and encourage further beautiful words and thoughts. To be able to play it at an organ a whole orchestral set it is beyond my grasp anyway.

WHY are there TWO VIOLA PARTS? They play in unison through the whole thing, all movements. Why is the score written that way? Please advise.
@CipherSphereqxc06989 күн бұрын
Because in Vivaldi's time, microphones did not exist, and why do you only question the fact that there are two violas, but not also the Cellos?
@evansanders147536 күн бұрын
For better balance Vivaldi used two violas, because players could not be mic’ed
@jayspearsmusic5 күн бұрын
@CipherSphereqxc0698 Hi, Cipher! Microphones??? There are not two cello parts. One bass clef is for the cellos, the other is for bass and continuo, as you can see on the title page. Starting at m 20, for example, those two parts are different. Cheers!
@jayspearsmusic5 күн бұрын
@@evansanders14753 Hi Evan. That's not my question. He can add as many violas as he wants to get the right balance. I'm asking why did whoever edited & printed this score (it was not Vivaldi!) use TWO alto clefs, with identical notes beginning to end, for the viola(s), when one would do.

For some reason, the cello and contrabass’ entrance in measure 20 makes me think of vikings riding through the forest chasing a boar.

Does anyone know why the violas play B flat instead of B natural (as written in the score) around 1:51? I looked around and saw a couple of other recordings that did the same and I'm wondering if my ears are just hearing it wrong lol.

They play B flat as it should be
@PhilipBuckmaster11 ай бұрын
@@vivaldissheetmusic The audio is PLAYING Bb; the score has B natural. (The figured bass says Bb - though that's all written very unconventionally.) You can argue either way...
@stefanocrosazzo32629 ай бұрын
Harmonically B flat is correct, as B natural would collide with the subsequent D minor entrance of the subject, creating a harmonic mistake called "tritone false relation". My opinion is, this particolar edition of the score is incorrect here

Barenreiter Verlag should have their new edition of all of Vivaldi's l'estro armonico complete w/ Keyboard Reduction, & an easy to play Continuo Realization.
