Why Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers Is Still A Masterpiece

I recently gave one of my favorite shows from my childhood, Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers, a rewatch to see how well it held up today. I am happy to say that watching these films made me feel like a kid again, seeing the struggles of the Teku and Metal Maniacs fighting against the Racing Drones for the sake of the world. I wanted to make this video to express my thoughts on a series that means a lot to me, and go over why to this day, Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers is STILL a masterpiece.

Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers is a 2005 series of four animated films produced by Canadian company Mainframe Entertainment, which also produced the television series ReBoot.[1] Available on DVD and VHS, it has also been shown on Cartoon Network.
A sequel to the 2003 film Hot Wheels: World Race, the series takes place two years after the World Race in California and puts Mattel's Hot Wheels toy cars in a ReBoot-like situation. The films were distributed by Warner Bros. Television and the soundtrack was distributed by Sony BMG. A collectible card game, which was shown in the DVD bonus, and other merchandise were also made.
The series aired on Cartoon Network in 2005-2006 Ignition (January 8), The Speed of Silence (March 19), Breaking Point (June 25) and The Ultimate Race (October 1).

Acceleracers is so good. So much depth for a children's show meant to sell toys. Like they didn't need to cook this hard, but because they did it has such a big fan base today. I wish it was more popular so perhaps we'd get more stuff now from mattel

I watched these movies religiously as a kid and was obsessed with Hot Wheels in general. My only gripe with this series is how they did Kadeem. He deserved a better ending.

I remember being so sad that some Racing Realms didn't have full episodes attached to them, and completely gaslighting myself that the episodes the snippets came from were some sort of lost media cos I SWEAR i watched those on Cartoon Network on our bootleg cable setup on our grey box tv. PEAK television, sick music, and this only served to fuel my hotwheels addiction.

Same, I always wanted more AcceleRacers content! One of the questions I still have to this day is what were the realms that gave the teleoprting and 2D car AcceleChargers 😂

@@AntonioRedgrave Great video! As seen in the card game, those happen to be the Warped Realm and Monument Realm respectively. Those as well as the Fog Realm and Swamp Realm (the first time it opened, during which Banjee was lost and even the Drones couldn't finish) opened before the events of the series, but probably after Tezla's failed attempt to get the Wheel

10:48 So, it turns out this is NOT the reason AcceleRacers was cancelled. Quite the opposite actually. To put in bluntly, AcceleRacers toys sold poorly and overall, the project just didn't meet Mattel's expectations. Stores didn't want anymore stock of non-diecast AR toys, so the stuff they were working on for season 2 just didn't pan out as a result. Awesome video, though! Love to see more KZbin personalities talk about this series.

@@AntonioRedgrave They were good toys, but Mattel overestimated the popularity of AcceleRacers and over distributed the toys initially. There was ultimately just more supply then demand. Stores started rejecting further assortments and some even dropped the line. When it came to Season 2, stores were just not willing to take all the new SKUs. It's a shame, really. - AcceleReece

I didn't have any acceleracers car when I was a kid, but I had imagination. I remember having a white mitsubishi lancer, that was very similar to vert's car, so it was in my own stories. He always won, he was my favorite. When I grew up, I promised that kid, myself, that I would get every car of the acceleracers movies. Last year got the last one, the iconic nolo's car synkro. Your video almost made me cry, I really love HotWheels. They made me happy.

I most DEF enjoyed Acceleracers frfr!!! I still go back and rewatch it to this day, mind you i first watched it when I was like 4 or 5 I am 22 now with a family and I still watch the serious over and over. It's storyline and character development was insanely GREAT, the fact they scraped it over some BS is wild. The cliff hanger really left me wanting more and made me try to search through reddit post to find out what happened to the drivers lost in the realms previously and led me to theorizing that banjee is one of the silencers. All in all this is an amazing video I appreciate when people bring light to Acceleracers for how good it was!!

I love the Accelerons, the locations, the tech and the wisdom they have, these aliens are literally born & evolved biologically to race and their outfits or what we saw with 1 Acceleron are racing suits legit part of their bodies and I love they're pacifists. Just wish we got to see more of these aliens including the male and Jeff Gomez give us what he thinks the Accelerons do when racing and other things, I have ideas already but it's just headcannon and theories. I also got into this as a kid, I had first movie in Saga for VHS & Ignition and some seperate DVDs for it then got DVDs of each movie so yeah been a fan since I was little. Also for my pfp of Krika from BIONICLE, I also had a VHS of first movie Mask of Light and some DVDs but never DVD for first movie and also been a fan of that since a kid.
