Wtf you can't say dumbest games when you probably haven't played most of them, and only elden ring dlc doesn't deserve to he there but all of the game of year nominations deserve to be there cuz they are incredible games, and don't you dare say dumbest when metaphor refantazio is here, that game is probably smartest most thought provoking game of the year with it message and story, so how about play more games then judge the games, just because your favorite is not here, not everything is about your favorites, maybe your favorite didn't resonate with everyone and you have to accept that.

That's pretty much how it is with Balatro. If you have played it, you completely understand why it is here and it's a testament to what a single dev can do and offer to players in a 15$ package. I don't necessarily think it deserves to win, but it deserved this recognition cause it's not just the best indie game of the year, it may be the best of the decade, especially for one guy to make. I get it with Space Marine 2 if you're just not into Warhammer and didn't play it. As someone who is, it's pretty much one of the only good games we'll get for a very long time. Even then, it has meh story, just okay PvP, a great PvE but not anything too spectacular in innovation, and it's had some rocky updates. Regardless of that though, it absolutely does deserve to win best Action game. The heart and soul of why we love it is cause the combat in this game is so damn satisfying, and makes the static operation missions still have replayability because of it.

You can buy and play Rebirth without having to buy and play Remake and no one can stop you. You literally can not access Shadow of Erdtree by purchasing it separately and you have to play through the main game first. There is a very clear difference

stellar blade is mine, in the begining it's a souls like but once you play it more and unlock a lot more stuff it starts to feel like a middle ground of bayonetta combat(only on the ground) still needs to add in aerial combat next game tho

Balatro is soo good. Its a roguelite poker game with rules and modifiers. It was made by one guy who made the game as a side project, building his portfolio for a potential career as a game dev. 10/10, its just perfect. Its the most "perfect" game of the year with the best, most fun gameplay loop. These other games each had hundreds of people working on them, whereas Balatro is just one man's vision. I really want it to win game of the year. Its already one of my favorite games of all time, I cannot stop playing.

No matter how good it is at the most it should win indie game of the year not get nominated it's not ambitious or innovative just a card game compare it to other games that came out this year it's just not on the same level I'm sure it's a good game but it's just a little card game at the end of the day I could understand it being nominated more if there wasn't games like kunitsu gami dragon's dogma 2 space marine 2 helldivers 2 or stellar blade but with these games in the picture it pails in comparison and that's not a diss on it like I said I'm sure it's good.

@Gems56 As somebody who played all those games, it absolutely deserves to be in the conversation. A game shouldn't be judged on what genre it's from, but on the quality and enjoyment of it for what it's worth. Balatro was made by a single dev, costs 15 dollars, and us already considered one of the greatest roguelikes of all time & a perfect gateway drug for the genre. It's a game that literally any gamer can play and get addicted to, most games in general can't do that, let alone GOTY games.

@@Gems56My guy, Dragon's Dogma barely even functioned on release. Helldivers 2 has been a hotbed of controversy. I've likely got more hours than 99% of players on SM2, I'm a massive Warhammer nerd and I was so hoping we'd get a nomination, but we don't deserve it over Balatro. Localthunk fucking killed it, and if you don't understand why then go play it.

@@enol1466 I see no issue with Wukong being Soulslike. It’s different enough in the combo flow and upgrade systems. Sounds like he’s tired of Soulslike. I voted for Wukong as best action game. Never played Helldivers 2 and Warhammer I did play but I prefer Wukong. I’ll try Stellar Blade. I doubt it’s the same as Wukong.

I think im in a pretty unique position as a person who wasn't even born when Acceleracers released and just watched it a few months ago for the first time. I got to say this series hasnt aged that badly if a 16 year old girl with no previous intrest in hotwheels can find this absolutely investing. Like i literally went into this knowing it was made 20 years ago and ends on a cliffhanger and was still absolutely devastated to reach the end.
