We take the viewer back to the days when carrying military equipment far and fast was the key to success in a potential third world war. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the rise of an independent Ukraine, the Antonov design bureau and factory, and Antonov Airlines company have provided some of the most impressive transport over the last decade, contracted by governments to move emergency reliet supplies, military equipment and industrial parts. Hope you enjoy. And we all hope this war and the senseless loss of life ends soon.

Unfortunately, friends, this plane is already history, you are too late with the video. Ukrainian defense industry concern Ukroboronprom reported that as of the morning of February 24, 2022, the aircraft was under repair and maintenance work at the Antonov Company site in Gostomel, one of the engines was removed for repairs, and the aircraft could not fly out on that particular day, although the appropriate commands were given in conditions of an armed conflict with the Russian Federation. As a result, the aircraft, which was in a hangar at Gostomel airport, was destroyed during the fighting for Antonov airport. We don't have the Mriya anymore. 😭🇺🇦

The technology is quite ancient. This video mentions how it is not environmentally friendly (not that this is too important for a one off like this). It might be more feasible for Boeing or Airbus to modify the B747 or A380 somehow as a mega carrier, or design a completely new aircraft for the task. The problem is that there is probably not a market for a fleet of them. To produce only one, or even a very small fleet, exponentially increases the design cost per aircraft. Maybe Antonov can combine the damaged plane and the second unfinished one and get the An-225 back in the air.

@marioperez-tg7tx The plane was built in last year's of the Soviet Union, and the two engineers involved were Petro Balabuyev (lead design engineer, Ukranian) and Viktor Tolmachev (lead design engineer, Russian) under the umbrella of the Aeronautical Scientific Complex named after Oleg Antonov - Ukranian Aerospace Engineer (Antonov Co.) Founded in 1952 in Russia, but handed over to the Ukranian Defense Industry - Ukroboronprom in 2015. Based in Kyiv - Ukraine, Antonov is a proud Ukranian company with its headquarters based in Hostomel Airport - Kyiv (testing facility and cargo airport). An-225 displayed the Ukranian flag (Yellow and Blue stripes) for a reason.
