Back when all the new “pop princesses “ were being churned out, and you all know who I mean, who knew that PINK would’ve been the one to become who I would call an amazing artist and performer…busted out of the record company hamster wheel and prove herself to be … well, effing awesome

My fav p!nk song ❤️love her new music video for Irrelevant, but I always cry because it’s so emotional with all the things we have to fight for. She wrote it after speaking up for womens rights and lgbtq+ rights and men replied that she’s irrelevant and to stick to singing. She’s like oh I will😏

She freely admits her past traumas, bad choices, and drug addiction. When she was offered her first record deal she was told the condition was they wouldn't work with a drug addict. She immediately worked on getting clean because she wasn't going to screw up her dream. She and her husband temporarily split and he willingly still acted in her videos. They went to counseling and reunited. I recommend her song Perfect and You and Your Hand if haven't already heard them, also Family Portrait.

What I love about this song, it was her new change , new direction, it was her own idea to change her image.. why she says "LA told me you, be a pop star.". she cleverly hides it thinking Los Angelos.. it actually LA Reid the producer. She fought to change her image from her first album, which was so RNB style, where she had to donn the pink hair

I dont know when pop music became a "gay" or "girl" thing (maybe the 2000s?) but i think its sad that a lot of guys feel guilty or ashamed for listening to pop music. I remember them asking Pink who her music was for and she responded "EVERYONE" and its true, music transcends gender. I feel like guys are finally just ignoring what people say and listening to what they want which is great!

Awesome reaction to one of the cornerstone favourites of my younger years. Pink is just literally one of those rarities that only comes once in a lifetime, nobody tries to be like her and nobody really can, she’s just an incredibly relatable and genuinely believable artist. The one thing I found ridiculous over the years is how viciously people back then would constantly pit female artists against one another, the page or site you were reading from is case and point for the sugarcoated bully culture that haunted artists of then and now, especially in regards to Britney and Christina… that’s the kind of bullshit that had its hand in birthing the judgemental toxicity that made itself a ‘blood type’ in society. These women worked hard to cement themselves in the industry and made the most out of whatever they had or opportunities they were given. I always idolised Christina as a vocalist and performer as I do Pink as a vocalist and performer. I’ve never been one or understood why media or other outlets made either artist feel redundant in favour of another. It’s likely those same people that would think me equally loving Pink and Christina is “Totally Taboo” 🤣. I admire and appreciate that you don’t give into that shit Anton, you take each artist as they are and respect them for what they’ve achieved or accomplished as well as who they are as a soul or an individual. Thank you 🙏🏼

She's a bit of everything. I think of her more as rock, but she's dabbled in country, rap, swing, folk; the whole gambit! The only genre I can come up with is "PINK", lol! I love that she doesn't have one style. Her 2019 Hurts 2B Human album is totally different, and a great mix too 😊.

This early 2000's songs, like the bands you mentioned, still had a 90's feel. I think the majority of that music was written in the 90's and some of the bands never changed their sound as the 2000's went on. I hear that 90's in a lot of the very early 2000's songs too.

Pink has been my favorite artist going on 20 years now since I listened to my sister's copy of "Missundaztood" when I was still in high school. To me, while there are a lot of amazing artists out there, she's just one that has been there since I was young and has never disappointed in her music. Its funny you say you hated pop music in high school, I couldn't stand country music as a teen and early 20s . I feel as you grow older you learn to appreciate all kinds of genres you completely trashed as a kid because of some childish misconceptions you had about them.

You should check out the song misery, it’s off this same album and it’s a blues duet with Steven Tyler, from Aerosmith. But make sure you listen to the album version, there’s another version that cuts out most of Stevens vocals and it’s not nearly as good. Pink wrote this album with Linda perry who is very unique herself.

You know her first album, Can’t Take Me Home, was pure R&B. She was poised to be the next Christina or Britney. Its a fantastic album full of hits…BUT…it wasn’t who she was. You say “she always stayed true”. But she didn’t. She made that album that wasn’t who she was. She listened to the studio execs. Ironically, it was a HUGE hit and that success allowed her to fight L.A. Reid for the right to make the next album with the sound that she felt defined her. Yeah, that was him in the vid. They fought hard. L.A. didn’t think the switch in genre would be successful. He was wrong. And she hasn’t looked back.
@mcstacia2 жыл бұрын
She was in an r&b girl group before that though. So maybe she really likes both genres. But wanted to change for her solo career.
@jariah920052 жыл бұрын
@@mcstacia for a very short time. That’s where LaFace found her and immediately convinced her to go solo once it was clear she had “the voice”. I never said she didn’t love R&B. I said it wasn’t the sound she wanted for herself. It wasn’t. She was following the advice of Reid. It’s all in her songs. The whole story. She was young and didn’t know what to do but she DID know that that sound wasn’t it. After that initial success with that first album, her confidence exploded and she knew she had an advantage to go for what she wanted. No disrespect to R&B, she still loves it. The Janet tribute, Moulin Rouge, she just wanted a sound that defined HER. And she found it.
