My pet marauder ant colony named the Leviathans needed a new space to live, as they were starting to overcrowd in their test tube home, so I created for them an Ant Mansion and placed it into their terrarium. I waited to see if they would move in, or if they would choose to remain in the cramped, problematic home they were currently occupying. What the ants did was surprising. Hope you enjoy this week's episode! Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

You prepared an entirely new space for the ants on the off chance that their old home was inhospitable for them. That overreaction is a necessary thing to make sure that they survive. I think the phrase ‘trust, but verify’ applies to keeping any animal, from the smallest insect to the largest mammal

Even if some people don't like the idea of the sea monster terrarium as much as a more "normal" looking environment, I don't think that should dissuade you from doing it mostly because nearly EVERY next you make looks like a normal environment. I think you deserve to have a little fun once in a while too.

In the wild, the ants don't have problems like running out of digging medium because they could just get more from around or just inside the nest, with this new giant jar you put in the tank, that problem here is now solved as they can now get all the medium they need to refill their nest. It may not be what you intended AC but it's a good solution for now until the leviathan nest is finished. Don't look a gift Replete in the mandibles right.

I know you feel bad for doing live feeding, but with the pupa it was safe for the colony and it let them feel like they were in the wild. It’s also great for an educational aspect for younger viewers who might not see this process in the wild and shows exactly why it’s best to respect them from a distance. They are powerful and deserve the respect. This is just my view however I respect how you do your thing and you have clearly had amazing success with colonies. Do your thing and never change, live feeding or pre killed feeding I love the videos and happily watch them with my 4yr old son ❤️.

The new terrarium idea looks cool, but I think the ants might need more digging space. I remember with the old Titans, you said this species likes to make MASSIVE underground chambers, so a small section on the side might not be enough, especially if you intend it to be a lasting home for them. Surrounding the leviathian with some soil and letting them live there might be more homely for them

A lore idea for this video: In the kingdom of the levaithans hidden in the ruins a beautiful village of the Marauders Valley.. A titanic flying piece of the land had crashed into the hidden village.. One ant heard the impact of the crash of the titanic chunk of the earth. That ant went to investigate.Once he gazed his eyes on the majestic piece he ran to the Castle of their kingdom and informed the council They sended a scout of ants to investigate too. They realized that it could be a defensive nest and kingdom for them.. They started constructing..Slowly and slowly they built a Kingdom capable of taking damage from even acid of some of their enemies gasters.. But then they realized it was too Dangerous for the Great Levaithans to live there.. Yeah i ran out of ideas.

Mikey or the Senate probably knows, others here too, but I think whatever protein is hardest to tear apart without stinking before being consumed should be used more to assist in boosting the production of cool majors, sarge majors etc. so maybe future diet of lizards, somebody's pet bearded dragon that died from old age, not disease etc or even another turkey or chicken head. The turkey head I bet was terrible odor.. but once consumed - those ants and the ones they communicated with knew the story and had 1st hand experience like a video game almost (+20xp scavenging skill, +100xp confidence, +20 bite accuracy from personally being _alive_ to help with legendary turkey head versus those in another tank without that same experience) so they wouldn't shrug a challenge ever again or be slightly hesitant. Be stronger. Or to imitate their *true natural* environment, you _could_ stage a small colony of different ants you know they'll hurt but not permanently kill to put in as training guides on how to survive and thrive better. That would produce more of the larger ants too I would suppose. I know morality comes up with ant vs ant but hey, it would be cool to watch if it's a harmful invasive species and just sort of "unlock the gates" every once in a while (putting in an open tube of pvc to come in but not get out, supervised only, no walking away or playing on cell) to let them both do their thing including _small_ raids, things like that which might take hours and require a little down time. I never thought about that till now. That would be really really incredible and I think make them happier. Both sides. I might really do that. I was planning on something unique I don't want to tell anyone being really different but this idea be ok in it's own right too. I like it. Two colonies. "Open the gates! They've reached our children!" and then close the gates where no babies die. Baby stealers get trapped and dealt with so it's even noble. All the ants you have, and have had, they're only being denied *ONE* thing they _need_ and love almost more than the queen herself and it's by her demand actually. They need other ants to fight with or their lives aren't fulfilled in a way or so I believe. Sorry so long. I was born before texting and twitter were invented so, hey.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't beat yourself up too much over forgetting to pre-squish the meal worm larvae. While I respect your desire to minimize anything that may be perceived as suffering, I think it's important to recall that ants are by nature both hunters and gatherers (depending, of course, on species -- exceptions like the leafcutters of course exist). The occasional live feeding, done with respect and awareness of how the animals and the viewers may respond to it, is not an unreasonable choice (or accident). Much like you were concerned when you flooded a colony, and with the live cockroach that gave birth while being devoured, now these larvae, allowing your viewers to learn from seeing the ants reacting to scenarios they'd encounter in the real world is certainly on-point for your mission to educate viewers in the field of myrmecology.

I am excited for the future of these marauders. I knew basically nothing about them before you started documenting on this colony and now I think they might just be one of my favourite ant species

I absolutely love your videos! And I really love the leviathans more than any colony you’ve kept so far. But one suggestion is, if possible in the future, CAN YOU PLEASE TRY YOUR HAND AT ATTA ANTS!!! They are my true favorites.

I once saw an ant colony outside my house, and they were dragging a small bug to their nest. They still live there today, and that’s what lead me to your channel!

AntsCanada, you might move the Ant Mansion towards the back of Marauder's Alley! That way, the ants still have room to move across the setup, to "hunt" for food! Creating those trails of ants again!! I'd suggest the back left corner, but with enough room for the ants to move back & forth, to & from their current nest!

I thought they were going to steal the soil and use it to enhance their test tube, like actually burying the outer castle. Still amazing to watch.

Next time you should have a second cap opening on the bottom of the nest, that way when they need to move you can slide the tube into the mansion and never need to take it back out and they'll dig downwards
