Im a Sparky (Electrician) im constantly grabbing 20mm white stuffing glands out the van 😂, thats what the white cable thing is btw if you remove the rubber inside and use a cone drill bit to open it up a little, you can fit a test tube in the 20mm stuffing gland perfectly drill a 20mm hole in any container and just screw it on 👌🏼

My colony love dandelion seeds and grass seeds collected locally, quinoa, linseed, canary seed. I buy from organic growers on E-Bay, most offer free postage.

Lord NarcoWookie yes. Canary seeds not only make a great food source but also have a shiny outer coating and it’s rather aesthetically appealing when they group them up in their storages.

The absolutely love sunflower seeds- though the husks get discarded and create quite a lot of rubbish that will need to be cleaned out. Dandelion seeds are also well received

Since live in Brazil the only seed eater i found was pheidole. They love getting some sunflower seeds from my Hamster food mix

ABOUT SEEDS U can buy large quantities of canary bird seed witch is a mix of seeds for canary birds that all messor ants take, they are a lot cheaper and are the same seeds u would buy for the ants, just all mixed up! Nice vid keep up the good work!

Great video! Is olive oil really effective, it makes the surface slippery or super gluey? I use baby powder but it can get messy and sometimes some ants manage to climb it (especially the smaller ones)

Dandelion seeds all the way...They are a top favourite. Grab corn or wheat heads from fields...Poppy heads before they open..Dry them indoors before feeding. X love this.

Don’t use IG so I’ll say it here. I feed my messor colony seeds labeled as canary food. I can find it in most larger stores and in all pet shops here. Maybe you have some friends that keep birds so ask them for samples. I just took my seeds that they like to the pet shop and found a mix that matched the best.

Seeds seem to be a variety of bird seeds. Barley, wheat, Rye, oat, imillet, niger, red millet, cracked corn, brown rice, poppy, sunflower and safflower seeds. You could also try hulled or shelled pine nuts, pistachio nuts, walnuts and pecans, peanuts, dried legumes like peas, various dried beans, and lentils. You could also try various wild flower and wild grass seeds. As for their new outworld, I would add some dried leaves, elder cones, damp sphagnum moss, and some coconut fiber powder, then add in some springtails, and even some of the BioDude's Bioshot, a mix of fungi and bacteria that break down and eat animal waste. You can find his YT channel on YT and his store online from there. Good quality plants and mosses as well as terrarium/vivarium soil mixes.

I feed my Messor structor colony using store - bought food for small parrots and canaries. I supplement their diet by including some wheat grains, linseed, sunflower seeds, pieces of walnut, hazelnut and peanut. Also my ants love pistachios :) When they need proteins, and i don't have any insects on hand, i'm giving them small pieces of boiled yolk or raw pork. Surprisingly, my Messors do not like chicken and turkey meat. My colony is about 15 years old now, and still going strong - IMO Messor ants are one of the best species for ant keeper that doesn't have much space, or time, to care for multiple colonies. If only they'd stop smearing poop on the tank walls... :(

I buy them in an organic supermarket in big packages, like 1kg. I've noticed that they are less interested in seeds if you feed them the same kind everytime. Do you have any idea how i can get airflow in my formicarium? My Messor start to nest in the foraging arena xD I have 30x30x10 Antstore arenas with the aluminium&glass lids. Do you have any idea how i can prevent them from doing this? Have a nice day ^-°
