Hello antscanada! I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to keep and care for ants. I am 12 years old and have had a fascination with ants for my whole life, but until about half a year ago, keeping them was only a fantasy. Around that time, I first saw your channel and it opened my eyes to a new world. And since then, I have bought a hybrid nest gear pack and am now caring for 3 young, happy, healthy ant colonies. You have changed my life, and opened my eyes to a world I thought I would never see. You are an inspiration to everyone in the world to care for life, and appreciate its miracles and beauty. Thank you! Ant love forever! ❤️🐜❤️

You can buy this kind of ticket for around 5$ and with it you can travel with the Underground, any bus, etc. for a whole day, so you can easily just hop into the metro and go to the next sight when you don't want to walk. Maybe you'll decide to come here one day? I hope you have a wonderful day.

I loved the time lapse of the Weaver ants building their nest in a leaf. I just find them fascinating, how they link together, 3 or 4 of them, making a little bridge and pulling the leaf together, and using the larval silk to hold everything together. I think the Weaver ants are definitely my favourite ants. They are just so fascinating in so many different ways. But mostly how they build their nests. Regarding which type of set up I would rather see the ants in, I think how you have it right now is best for the ants. It’s a more natural setup, like they would have if they were living in the wild. So, that would be my opinion on any type of creature or animal, having them live in what is closest to their natural habitat. Although, of course it would be interesting to be able to see their nests in the thin, glass, upright setup. I guess if you were able to have their natural setup, as you currently do, then add tubing to it, leading to one of those upright, see through set ups, then the ants have the choice of both. I hope that makes sense! 😁

I like the simple set up for smaller colonies, if only because they make it easier on the keeper when they're starting out. But your bioactive terrariums are a big part of why I started watching. It's like seeing them in a more natural habitat, and seeing how they react to the environment and how the environment reacts to them. But if you ever decided to make it easier on yourself and move to simpler colonies, I'd be okay with that too. It's ant love all the same. Please do what suits you best.

I don't normally like insects, or things like that, but, I have been subscribed to your channel for sometime, and I must admit, I'm mesmerized by your videos, you do a fantastic job filming, and your narration is top notch, you keep me entertained throughout the whole video. Just wanted to say thank you, and I look forward to each video.

My favorite ants are the leaf cutter ants. They show such a beautifully complex display of their huge fungus-growing nests and they make their own food! Imagine if we didn't have to go to the store for food but rather grow it on our houses to harvest later!

Such a cool store! Do you think there could be a physical AC store someday? Seeing inside the nests was neat, but I'm always so impressed by the big bio-diverse terrariums in the ant room and I love to see how the ants take initiative in shaping their environments.

LOVED this departure from normal AC content. Thank you Mikey and the team! I think it would be amazing to give the Titans a vertical nest like the one shown, but just connect it to their bioactive terrarium, and let them have a satellite nest or secondary one!

My favorite videos are the ones in which you make unique setups for each ant species that looks like its own miniature world for the ants, in which it is very clear that careful thought is being put into maintaining interspecies mingling, plants and foliage, security, population regulation, and it's all done naturally. For me, personally, I love it when you go into detail about every little creature you add into your ants colonies, from frogs to fish to plants and so on. Learning about why these different things fit together in a miniature world is interesting to me. It's a crazy wild and interesting concept you don't see anywhere else. Perhaps if you were to do it, a way to go about it is to build it underneath the miniature world, as if it were an extension of the underground, so your ants could nest deep below the surface there and pop up to scavenge in the miniature world as an outworld.
@Shivan003

I love the idea of a vertical setup, but maybe not with any existing colonies. The most fascinating part for me is seeing what they do underground. I'd love it if you could time lapse a new colony clearing out tunnels in a new setup!

I am living in Germany - and whilst your videos about ant keeping brought me into the hobby, ant world gave me all the supplies, the forum and of course the ant colony (messor barbarus). I have always admired your bioactive setups and it inspired me to plan a terrarium-like formicarium for my messor barbarus as well. They are currently in a vertical setup which is interesting to watch, but somehow i want to provide them with a much more natural habitat - like your ants have. It has been a pleasure to watch this video :) seeing my two inspirations for ant keeping coming together :)

I think his stance on keeping exotic ants is very reasonable and logical. Not keeping invasive species is even one step ahead of your own stance. And the more people keep exotic ants, the higher the chance for conservation and understand of those species.

Lasius Niger are a great species, I collected around thirty new queen's at the start of this years flights and many are now caring for pupae, excited to see my first new workers and get the colonies set up in new homes. My plan with collecting the number that I did is as well as to ensure I definitely got at least one colony started was actually to provide some small basic setups to a local primary school where my mother works to study in their classrooms to get the kids interested, maybe even a couple of other schools, and then to sell/give away the other starter colonies that I don't end up keeping. Such a versatile and hardy species I'm really looking forward to working with
